Correct, Daniel just told Ellie to bury it in concrete.

I wouldn't be suprised if the box contains a nuke or tools to find/fix/activate the existing buried nuke. And yeah, it does answer the question of who was shooting at Sawyer/Daniel/etc when they paddled over, clearly these folks.

Previously its been kind of questionable as to who is the bad guy, Whiddmore or Ben - both obviously do stuff for their own reasons and both have done very bad things, but in the context of who is "aligned" with the island and who is not, I think this episode painted Ben in a better light than Whiddmore. May be a deliberate ruse by the writers to throw the viewers off, of course.
what box? the "box" that Locke's dad came out of or some other physical box?

You know, the giant 10 foot long metal box they were all carrying. Maybe if the box was a horrible horrible movie opinion, you'd have spotted it sooner.

Haha!

I couldn't figure out what the crap they were doing with the box. It seems like they spent the entire episode trying to attach bamboo to it; something that should've taken all of 10 minutes.

When they were attaching the bamboo, presumably to carry it, all I could think about was the impending arc of the covenant symbolism.

Well, it probably started with a round of 'I thought *you* packed the rope', followed by half an hour of looking through people's bags for something they could use instead, followed by them realising they are shit at tying knots, followed by the stockings they used snapping because the box is too heavy etc etc.

I agree, I don't think they went crazy, something happened to them under that temple. Remember when the prego russo had the rifle turned on her husband and tricked him into firing the unloaded gun at her. After she caught him he had a creepy evil look on his face that gave me the impression that something else was up that we don't know about.

I don't see how you cannot assume they went crazy, after all we have seen of them and Danielle. She specifically referenced her husband being infected and that's why she shot him. Whether or not he was infected, I don't see how you can argue that Danielle was not crazy.

You could assume that the temple had changed them maybe, like it supposedly did to Ben, making them "Others" or whatever you want to call it. I would still say Danielle was crazy from killing them all and spending all that time in virtual isolation.

How was she crazy? From what we saw, she was right, they WERE infected or brainwashed somehow, and her husband would have killed her had the gun been loaded or the firing pin not been removed. Maybe the isolation and having her baby stolen from her would have left her unbalanced, but from what we've seen, Danielle was perfectly rational in killing her husband and quite probably the rest of her crew, as they had somehow been turned.

You are interpreting that as the smoke monster making everyone crazy/brainwashed/whatever and Danielle being entirely rational, but it could easily be interpreted the opposite way, with the incident (plus isolation, being on the island, seeing Jin vanish, etc) driving her nuts, leading her to sabotage the other weapons and think everyone is infected with some mystery affliction (which we have still seen no sign of, leads me to believe it's not real). She was severely paranoid, and was going to kill Jin with no evidence of any kind of "infection".

What we see on the show, typically, is what is actually happening. Further, Jin witnessed it. There is no question, whatsoever, that her husband had been "turned" whether by brainwashing or infection or being shown some great truth in the temple. He tried to kill her. She was not paranoid, it was not a delusion. That happened and Jin saw it.

From everything we've seen of Danielle, in the past and after 815 crashed, she's more or less behaved rationally. Her expedition mates turned against her and she had to kill them, as they meant her harm. She had her newborn baby stolen by someone who told her to never try to find them. And when she encountered Sayid, she assumed he was an Other.

She never was crazy or outright irrational, although there's no question that decades of solitude would skew anyone a little sideways.
