+6 Internets | Seriously i don't know how they are going to explaine every single mystery that has been introduced throughout the seasons while mantaining a storyline in the final 3 seasons. If they can't they had better made a Lost special to explaine what happened here and what happened there. Stuff like why there are electrical sonar emmiting fences that kill you to why jacob's hut is surrounded with powder. Toe statue, what the smoke monster is, what significance the numbers have (the numbers seemed to have appeared less this season, are they forgetting it?), a total breakdown of how each character is linked to each other, why polar bears are on the island, what each station is for, how did dharma initiative discover the island, what is walt's role......... ETC ETC ETC.

+9 Internets | This is accurate. In fact, a few weeks ago in TV Guide they had some pictures of Lost behind-the-scenes; makeup, wardrobe, etc. In one picture you could actually see that guy with the long hair who was the stand-in for Jacob. I think he was doing one of the stars' makeup or costume. Turns out he works in wardrobe or something. |

Pretty sure there are only 2 16 episode seasons left. But I agree with your point. I'm braced for a terribly disappointing ending to all of it. Still, the ride itself has been fun.

| I remember reading about that, too, and I agree that we can't really read anything into the actor playing Jacob in that scene. But I think we can read into the cat on Jacob's shoulder -- especially since they took great pains to show a cat in one of the recent episodes. I'm going to go back and figure out whose cat it was, but I want to say Ben's. |

| Also, does anyone think that Ben is actually working against Jacob and/or the Island? This could be another explanation for the "Help me!" line that Jacob said to Locke when Ben took Locke to see him. It would also (somewhat) explain why Ben was trying to fry that time/space machine with the metal (maybe it could have been used to save Jacob somehow?). I dunno. Just my thinking out loud again. But I enjoy Lost theories! Ultimately, I don't think we should get too comfortable with the idea of Ben as a protagonist, or of Ben's being totally cooperative with the Oceanic survivors. He's always up to something, and he's always manipulating people into helping him achieve his own ends. I think he'll once again become the ultimate antagonist / bad guy by the end of the series. |

Who really gives a shit about the people on the freighter? As long as Desmond and Hurley are okay, who cares about the rest? I for one agree with Ben and his motivations. Screw the whining, pitiful 815 survivors. I honestly can't see how Ben could turn us off to him now. Unless he like, murders Hurley with a fork, Ben will always be my personal Hero.

+69 Internets | Also, if you guys really want some weird perspective, check out the lost timeline: Timeline ecember 2004 - LostpediaIt's weird to think about how FAST this has all happenend. All of season 4 took place over 10 days island time. It's been 33 days since the Hatch imploded. It's been 28 days since Jack removed bens tumor. It's been 12 days since Sawyer killed Anthony Cooper. Just seems so crazy how fast the events have taken place.

The fence keeps out the smoke monster and also kills humans, so its a dual purpose. How its powered is probably not that important, can assume underground thermal vents or such. Why sonic hurts the smoke monster is important, and we assume the very final season will answer what the smoke monster is and how it works. The polar bear was explained as well in Charlotte's episode I think. The Dharma people were experimenting on animals (rabbits time travel, perhaps polar bears aggression). They were housed in the cages that kept Kate and Sawyer last season (tricky food dispensers that the polar bears would "learn" to give them treats). When Dharma died off the polar bear(s) and other animals (horses, pigs, chickens, etc) got free and wandered off. There is also a connection where Walts comic book in s1 had a polar bear in it, and some think he "imagined it" into being, but most likely that storyline is dead unless Walt becomes a major character. Charlotte also discovered a polar bear w/ dharma logo thats very old (millions of years?) in the Sahara desert, which we know used to be a tropical environment long ago. Ties into the idea that the Island can jettison objects off it and backwards/forwards in time, just like Ben ending up in Middle East. The numbers definitely took a backseat this season, they made some appearances but mostly centered around Hurley. I'm sure we'll see them back, especially near the end of the show. Jacob and smoke monster are clearly going to be a part of late next season and final season, they are basically the core of the Island and revealed last. Walt is either going to be an important part of the story or not. The relationships between Whidmore, Ben, Dharma, Valenzetti, Black Rock (crew) and The Hansos will make up a key part of season 4 I imagine. The Others may make up a big part of season 4, since Locke is now with them. Last edited by spronk; 06-03-2008 at 01:52 PM..

I think that Ben is working for no one but Ben, ultimately, but he thinks he is working for the greater good. For instance, I think he feels that he is the only one that can "save" the island or whatever else is really going on, and that's why no one else matters to him unless he needs them for a particular reason. He might be deluding himself, but I think he really felt loss and pain when he knew he was going to be exiled from the island forever, but he was able to rationalize it as a necessary step, or even a test. I compare it to (and don't read too much into my description please) Jesus saying "Forgive them, for they know not what they do" as he's being crucified. I picture Ben as having almost that same thought in his head as he's slowly pushing the wheel. Except of course that he is the one doing the forgiving, not some higher power, not even the island. He is convincing himself that "they know not what they do" and if he must sacrifice to make it all right, so be it. I also feel that he is certain he will get his "reward" in the end some day. Of course, whether he is right or not is an entirely different matter. I also don't think he was trying to damage the replicator dealio to sabotage Jacob or anything like that, I think it was just the fastest way to the wheel. The video Locke watched even said it was built right next to a time/space thingamajig (obviously not those exact words). In times past (maybe Ben is even familiar with them?) it obviously didn't have that artificial wall blocking it off. And I never watch awards shows anymore, but if he doesn't win an Emmy for this season it will be a travesty. Just the two scenes where Alex got shot and him turning the wheel were more raw emotion than just about anything I've seen on TV in years.

| The "so" line means that he isnt concerned about the freighter cuz Ben has his good luck charm michael on it. he knows as long as michael is there the boat is ok. when the necessary people got off the boat, christian then pops down and to remove the charm or whatever it was on michael and thats when then the boat explodes. Ben, Christian and Jacob are all working together and while Locke is important to the island he is easily manipulated by Ben to do whatever he wants him to do. Ben probably had something to do with his death in order to get the Oceanic 6 to go back, get pennys boat to bring them there, then Ben finishes it up by capping Penny in the process. |

+9 Internets | I think it would be great if Jacob turns out to be some incredibly evil, malevolent force that has been kept imprisoned on the island by Ben and the Others. The entire Jacob/Ben/Locke storyline kinda reminds me of that old Twilight Zone episode with the devil in the monastery. Some guy gets lost and ends up at a monastery where he finds a man imprisoned in a cell. The man pleads for help, saying the monk is a crazy, evil individual. The monk claims the man in the cell is Satan, and he's keeping Satan locked up. Ultimately the guy releases the man and only then realizes that he should have listened to the monk, because the man in the cell really was Satan and now he is free. |
