Jack could have been played by a young william shatner.

"Locke.. you've.. GOT TO... push...

the button."

then he'd punch him in the face, kick his stomach, then bring double fists down on his back.

Favorite characters:
Sawyer
Locke
Mr. Echo (all three of these dudes equally. They are all the best of badass in their own way).
Kate (She probably beats them all because of pure hot factor. Her swimming episode made my jaw drop.)
Jack (Dudes, he frickin amputated a guys leg via a primitive chopblock! He -can- be badass, but I agree he is very very whiny.)
Hurley (He's fat, but seriously, his is almost the attitude mine would be upon crashlanding on an island. That of... WHOAAAAAAAA, dude, I might be tripping out RIGHT NOW.)

Just finished watching the 1st season. I'd watched the show on and off since it first came on, I think often not even realizing what I was watching. A lot of the backstories of the characters I already knew parts of, I think because I'd be channel surfing and tune in, then not turn back after it went to commercials. Probably my favorite drama TV series ever, wow was it ever good.

Not very satisfying though, by the end of the first season if anything you're even less sure on just what the fuck is going on. Every time they answer a question about a character's past, they bring up two more.

I'm looking forward to the second season coming out on DVD (for I am too lazy to download shit), but I've got this sinking kinda X-Files feeling I guess. I just can't see the show being compelling if they stretch it past maybe a 4th season, but I've got every confidence that they'll do just that unfortunately. I don't blame them, they'd be crazy to not milk the show for as long as possible, I just find it disapointing.

They are already milking it so much, with episodes like last weeks where *nothing* happens at all, and skipping 2-3 weeks between episodes.

I can't stand Sawyer, all he ever says is "Hey freckels!" "Hey sweet thang" and swishes his hair like a homo. I'm pro-Sayid, pro-Jack (he's a doctor), and sometimes I like Locke.

I recently watched every Lost episode up until s2ep16 in about a week, after never having watched the show in my life.

Season 1 was pretty cool. There were a ton of interesting concepts and quite a bit of "no way would that happen like that" and "who the fuck cares about this fucking flashback / island romance" moments.

Second season is pretty awful so far. Took everything i didn't like about season 1 and focused on it. Barely anything interesting has happened so far, other than the whole ***spoiler*** 2 camps meeting up with the gunshot ***spoiler*** part. There's way too many episodes where nothing happens at all. Learn from a show like the Office (british version), quality > quantity. I swear, if this show goes for more than 3 seasons, i'll .... probably watch it all .

I hate how they made Jack the most annoying douche imaginable, that character had so much potential. Locke is just getting tiring with his "ohh, i'm mysterious and wise" bullshit. I just pretty much hate every character, except for Mr. Echo. That guy kicks ass.

Anyways, i'm hooked, and i'm sure i'll watch it to the bitter end.

locke was mysterious and wise before but now its becoming a realization he is spewing shit. if they play him right his faith will be his demise, similiar to how boone's arrogance got him killed.

jack was a solid character early on but his angst is worse then the combined emo army of myspace. he needs some resolve as right now everytime i see him i get that same pain as i do when i have blue balls.

they abuse sawyer's personality a lot too. one week he makes a step towards being a good person, the next week its 4 steps back. its like at one point they wanted to show his evolution from someone hated to someone loved but they keep wanting a character to hate.

im glad they killed boone and his sister. boone always had that pissed off "someone's finger is in my butt" look, not too camera friendly.

pretty much i loved the first season but season 2 is making me really want to hate the actors. except hurley, he's pretty swell. maybe its just the chic from swat, she gets typecast into angry hispanic girl toooo much.

Boon just pissed me off because of his rosy cheeks all the time. Dude had some serious blushing issues. Shannon is hot as hell, I'd tolerate several seasons of her annoying shit just to get a nice ass in a thong shot like Kate had when they found the case.

After watching only the first season, I guess I haven't seen Jack turn into a baby yet, nor Locke turn out to be wrong about the island (at this point he's still some sort of wise prophet), but Sawyer's character is getting old, seesawing back and forth between good and evil non-stop.

Yeah a few interviews I've seen with Matthew Fox and the dude that plays Locke have them commenting on the whole commerce vs. art struggles this show goes through now that its such a big hit for ABC.

About the 2-3 weeks between episodes, I read that it takes so long for them to produce just one episode that eventually the viewers catch up with the production cycle and they have to run repeats for a few weeks. The last drought of new episodes pissed me off though, what 1 new one in 5 weeks?

Heh, same here. My friend wanted me to watch it, so I checked it out to see what all the hype was about and the truth is that I can't understand why anyone would like this show. It's just a bunch of adults in a crisis situation acting like fools and cry-emo teenagers. They all succumb to impulsiveness rather than to rationality.

At first I liked how Locke was wise and calm but then the writers ruined the character for me with the stupid spirituality shit and the "Don't tell me what I can't do!" crap. Right now I can only stand Mr. Eko, Rose, Hurley, and Jin. Everyone else justs pisses the hell out of me. Even Vincent is a richer character than some.

And now Javier Grillo-Marxuach left, who wrote my favorite episode. I thought that the episode with the Shannon crap was bad but then the writers surprised me with Ana-Lucia's episode. Oh boy, I think that I "watched" half of that episode writing an e-mail.

Btw, has anyone else noticed that Evangeline Lilly was casted for the sole purpose of serving as eye candy? Her acting sucks so, so much. I really don't care, but why give her lines? Just keep showing her in undergarments.~

Exactly. Way too much forced drama, a lot of which is obviously trying to appeal to the teenage / female audience.

Another thing that i fucking hate is that there are 40-some survivors, yet we only ever see like 10 of them? And then that one episode they decide to bring in this strong-personality science teacher character who somehow had no involvement in anything on the island prior to that episode. It just seems like the writers are grasping at straws.

I think that the series could still end well, as the overall concept is pretty cool.
