Which I will argue came about because the creators of DS9 noticed what Babylon 5 was doing and adapted their series to fit an arching overall storyline.

One of BG's strong points is making a story that could take place in a setting other than space/sci-fi and it would still be good. I think some writers/directors/creators/whatever think that nerds will love something simply because it happens to be in space or content aliens/weird shit.

Exactly Dokomo. Now i admit that i only watched few episodes of DS9, and , altho it was different from the Next Generation, Voyager , etc , crap it screamed to me " Hey my name is Deep Space Nine , i am not a clone of other startreck series , i am different , i am a clone of Babylon 5 "

And i hate clones. Call me a clonofob.

So stop watching any TV because it has always been done better and first in a book?

Things can be enjoyable even when they are almost entirely are ripoff of an earlier work.

I liked DS9 alot once they started the Dominion War storyline around the end of season 3...they had alot of good storylines and really fleshed out the characters. They also werent afraid to do dark shit (Sisko did some really fucked up shit to help win the war in that one episode). Plus the wars towards the end of the series completely owned any space battles on TV ever. They'd have literally hundreds of cap ships, fighters, frigates, etc all fighting, exploding, crashing into eachother, getting damaged, doing kamakazis.

Well i am not talking in absolutes here . For example i enjoyed first season of Next generation because it was new to me , i never saw any other startreck before.Even tho i belive it existed, captain Kirk and all that.

So if it is new to me it is not a clone. And i may enjoy it. But when i see star_treck_type_series_099, hoiwever good ( yeah right ) it is, i just can't watch it.

DS9 Dominion was the best Star Trek probably ever got (honorable mention for the evil universe Enterprise two parter) you missed out.

Even Babylon 5 if redone like BG would probably be better.

So.. The confrontation was resolved tonight.. I think it turned out well. The ending between Adama and the President was a nice touch.

Was a pretty badass episode. I loved the scenes of the giant space battle...especially that one of Lee floating in space and watching as the basestars literally begin to fall apart as the battlestar salvo fire does it's damage. I have a slight feeling they were inspired by the Battle of Midway....a pilot who went down was able to get his emergency raft inflated and watched the course of the battle as he floated nearby. Too bad the Blackbird was destroyed...that ship was #1.

I kinda like how Adama and Cain both came to terms slightly after the battle, then Gina pops in. "Frak you" "You're not my type" *BLAM*

And the Adama/Rosyln scene at the end was interesting.

Next episode looks to be interesting too.

On the other hand, Deep Sleep 9 earned that name by having some of the most boring dreck ever seen on television scattered among the episodes, so it is sort of a mixed bag.

Yeah it worked well, the last two episodes though I felt had a bit of a logical problem insofar as Adama, while planning treachery, allows Cain's marines to wander all over his ship, including in his command centre. The other puzzling part was there seemed to be no acknowledgement of Kara not having a chance in hell of getting out of the pegasus CIC alive if she followed his orders.

I give props to Baltar - using a woman's nostalgic memories as pickup lines on another copy of herself while she is watching - that has to be a first.

I just noticed this on Amazon. They say runtime is 440 minutes, so that sounds like 10 episodes. Does anybody know if they'll release a DVD pack with the complete season 2, or should I buy this one already?

All I hope is the writers get to an end in the story, otherwise there's no point to the damn show and it'll turn out like X-Files where it fails to deliver.

How to end the series is probably a source of many headaches for the writers. In the original BSG they found Earth to be 1980's Earth and made a sequel like series of that. Obviously a bad idea, but most importantly because the concept of finding Earth must end the series quickly. The series is not the same without the feeling of being alone out in space as you are persued by a relentless enemy. Hopefully the changes to Cylon philosophy will provide a path to a satisfying conclusion.

I think it also comes to a point where, if they know where earth is, should they lead the cylons there? The cylons will surely destroy it...
