Let me first say that no, I am not a fan. I can't even name a song of hers. What I do know is that I considered her to be a genuine artist/songwriter, with talent. Someone who sells records because their music can stand on it's own.

When did that change? Did she make some sort of conscious decision? Or maybe I just didn't catch that the video was some sort of joke? If you haven't seen her video, it's basically a cookie cutter version of every video ever made. Her dancing (I think in the rain at points) in a small outfit on an abandoned street at night, complete with booty dancers. I mean shit, she is so blatantly whoring herself out in the video, it's really strange. To be honest, it's not as bad as say, a Beyonce or Pink video, because Jewel just doesn't have the goods. But it's still trying to pretty blatantly sell her sex appeal.

I dunno, it just bothered the hell out of me. I hadn't heard anything from her in years, so I guess this is her way of making a come back. Talk about desperate. And it's really too bad she tossed away her crediblity so easily.

As far as the song goes, I didn't even listen. I guess it's okay, but it sure as shit doesn't sound like a Jewel song. Forgettable pop drivel, IMO.

I just assumed she's trying to hoodwink her fans into thinking she's being ironic, a la U2's whole "Pop" thing. It seems contrived and calculated just to make up for the last album's lack of sales, but I would be forgiving of that if the song wasn't also horrible.

Oh well, never liked her in the first place. That single off the last album made me want to vomit with it's greeting card lyrics like "If I could tell the world just one thing it would be that we're all ok".

Did you not see how fake the video was?

It was a giant satire on what everyone else has their videos like.

Watch it again and you will be able to tell if you missed it the first time.

I said "maybe I just didn't catch that it was a joke." So I guess it is. I only saw the very end of it, so I missed that.

That's just it. She's passing that off as satire, but I call bullshit. She's dancing around in a skimpy outfit to some generic Britney-esque pop music, then, I guess, she's supposed to be surprised when she sells more albums than ever, especially after she had been on a sales decline with her more folksy stuff.
