| Audio Software Just wondering if anyone else plays around with audio software/synths/etc? Been fiddling around for a few months, mostly during free time in Univeristy this year, havnt produced much 'good' stuff. No musical training/etc, but its a time killer. Started out with FruityLoops, then discovered BuzzMachines which I like alot, but bounce between the two (really like the piano roll of Fruity). Then after playing with those for about a month, started to dig up some really nice software synths .. Absynth, FM7, Pro-53, and just rescnetly got a copy of XPhraze which is really impressive. Just wondering, anyone else fiddle with this stuff? and what software do you like. |

| Fruity Loops is a lot of fun. It makes you realize just how easy it is to make dance music and rap. I also use Cool Edit Pro and Sound Forge for work (radio) and for some home recording. |

but, if you listen to some less mainstream stuff (goa gill, kode IV, alien project, astral projection, infected mushroom) well .. that stuff isnt so simple to make been trying, but with no luck. However, i do find it funny though, how I find it much harder to do hardcore/gabber then house. Ahhwell but yeah, FL is really easy to get out some basic/descent sounding stuff without any previous know-how. | |

| Yeah.. was funny, the first day I downloaded FM7 I think it was, I loaded it as a VST into Fruity, layed down a very basic chord progression, ran it though the chopper for a dance lead, used a trancy-ish preset and hit play, and it sounded like what you would find on "best of mc mario" or "much music dance hits" and crap like that. I doubt i'll ever take any of this seriously, just a time killer really. |

+5 Internets | i used fruity loops(fun toy), traktor dj studio and atomix mp3 traktor/atomix you can use for computer(ie.sucky-non-turntable) "screwing & chopping"**, and then add effects like refurbage, speaker-to-speaker or break using atomix **definition for those that don't know, since this is only done mainly in the south and hasn't really gone mainstream except for a few songs by three six...it is also only done to hip hop/r&b songs screwing is slowing down music using the pitch control on a turntable, named after the late dj screw who basically revolutionized southern texas music doing this chopping is laying down 'chops' (kinda like loops) in places during songs (best timing is when a beat hits) that makes word(s) repeated i guess you could say if youd like to hear examples of what s&c is, done by great djs, then use your kazaa or whatever(takes too long for me to upload all these to website) to download the regular and s&c versions of: Paul Wall & Chamillionaire - N' Love Wit' My Money - S&C version done by OG Ron C (nominated for best southern dj by MTV) Mike Jones and Magno - Day 2 Day Grindin' - S&C version done by Michael '5000' Watts (on same level as Ron, DJ for a different group though) |

| I have Reason and i play around with it every so often. My friend is semi-serious about persuing a career in commercial music (either as a producer or artist). He takes classes at college, he's very good with reason, and is learning how to spin. So he gave me the program and I think it's great, but it's so intricate that I find it hard to stay focused for a long period of time. Especially since it's hard to make the stuff I'm thinking without a midi keyboard, but I'm not serious enough to go buy one. |
