The second coming of the greatest band ever...A Perfect Cirlce

Easily my favorite band, just wish they had more material. That wish is being fulfilled with their newest CD, dropping September 13th, titled "The Thirteenth Step." Also announced were their new tour dates July-Sept.

I personally can't wait.

A Perfect Circle Looks To Lucky 'Thirteen'

Rock outfit A Perfect Circle will return Sept. 16 with its sophomore Virgin album, "Thirteenth Step." As previously reported, the set is the band's first with new bassist Jeordie White (Marilyn Manson), formerly known as Twiggy Ramirez. White replaces Paz Lenchantin, who joined Zwan. APC member Troy Van Leeuwen played on the new album but will not be touring with the group, due to commitments with Queens Of The Stone Age.

A Perfect Circle is led by Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan, former Tool guitar tech Billy Howerdel and drummer Josh Freese.

"Thirteenth Step" is the follow-up to 2000's "Mer de Noms," which debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 and has sold more than 1.4 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. It spawned the singles "Judith" (No. 4 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks airplay chart, No. 5 Modern Rock Tracks), "3 Libras" (No. 12 Modern/Mainstream Rock Tracks), and "The Hollow" (No. 14 Mainstream Rock, No. 17 Modern Rock).

A Perfect Circle will debut its new material during a two-week U.S. tour, beginning July 26 in Denver and wrapping Aug. 11 in Minneapolis. Afterward, the group will play seven dates on the mainstage of Lollapalooza, beginning Aug. 15 in Phoenix.

Here is the tracklist for "Thirteenth Step":

"The Package"
"Weak and Powerless"
"The Noose"
"Blue"
"Vanishing"
"A Stranger"
"The Outsider"
"Crimes"
"The Nurse Who Loved Me"
"Pet"
"Lullaby"
"Gravity"

Here are A Perfect Circle's tour dates:

July 26: Denver (Ogden Theater)
July 28: Dallas (Grenada Theater)
July 30: Atlanta (Roxy)
Aug. 1: Norfolk, Va. (NorVa)
Aug. 2: Washington, D.C. (9:30 Club)
Aug. 3: Boston (Berklee Academy of Music)
Aug. 5: New York (Irving Plaza)
Aug. 6: Philadelphia (TLA)
Aug. 8: Cleveland (Odeon)
Aug. 9: Detroit (St. Andrews Hall)
Aug. 10: Chicago (Metro)
Aug. 11: Minneapolis (Pantages)
Aug. 15: Phoenix (Cricket Pavilion)
Aug. 16: Irvine, Calif. (Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre)
Aug. 17: Chula Vista, Calif. (Coors Amphitheatre)
Aug. 19: Mountain View, Calif. (Shoreline Amphitheatre)
Aug. 21: West Valley, Utah (USANA Amphitheatre)
Aug. 23: Auburn, Wash. (White River Amphitheatre)
Aug. 24: Saint Helens, Ore. (Columbia Meadows)

I just hope they still sound as good with the new bassist. If so, this will be a kick ass album. Guaranteed!

I downloaded a few songs from Tapeworm. They were decent but it sounds nothing like normal NIN...its kinda trance/techno-ish.

Yes, it was really from Tapeworm.

ya i downloaded some of that stuff to and it does say its the real nin/maynard tapeworm it isnt, and thank god to it sounds like pure ass. I think they tapeworm project got cancelled cause Maynard played a Tapeworm song at a concert and Trent didnt think it was done and didnt want him to play it but he did so i think there might have been falling out between the 2.

Damn, no St. Louis.

But I'm still optimistic. There was no official St. Louis date on their last tour either at first, but in the end they ended up comming here twice =)

Hopefully the same will be true this time around and also for anyone else whose city isn't on that list.

Can't wait

That stuff thats labels tapeworm is not the tapeworm project its just random stuff renamed, like "warlock" is just a different copy of the song worlock by Skinny puppy. The only tapeworm song that has been leaked is vacant, which apc performed live.

I am sorry but the 15 minute bridges in the middle of all their songs makes Tool/APC not my favorite band. Just finish the song already. Maybe if I took drugs who knows.

I do think I will give this a listen though because even if I am not super excited about it they do release good music. True not every song is 15 minutes and some really stick in your head. I hope this one they have toned down the length of the instrumental bridges and focus on the lyrics.

APC rarely has a song over 5 minutes. Hell, I am not even sure if there IS one over 5 minutes on their first album, maybe one or two.

Maybe I confused the two. I know Tool has some pretty damn long songs and I am not a huge music connosieur so I may have got them mixed up

Yeah, you did. Tool does have a lot of long songs, as the band progresses their songs seem to get longer and longer. Personally I like it, my favorite songs have always been the long epic ones (Three Days by Jane's, In My Time of Dying by Zep, Third Eye by Tool). But it isn't very radio friendly, nor it is party music or something to listen to in your car (unless you are driving a long distance ).

APC though is a totally different band, with the singer being the only similarity. Granted, because of his voice they can sometimes sound similar, but I think their styles are quite different. APC is a lot more positive and easier to listen to. I just checked my APC files, and only three were bigger than 4 megs, so @ 128kbps, 4 megs is about 4 minutes. So there you go!

I love Tool's long songs. Pushit, Third Eye, 4 Degrees, Floods, and basically all of 'Lateralus'. If you have the 'Salival' DVD/CD box set you'll notice they extended Pushit by 2 minutes in a live performance.

Yeah, although I think I had already downloaded that recording of Pushit a few years back from toolshed.down.net, or at least a very close version with that guy playing Tabla.

Oooh, I just checked that website for the first time in years. While the bootlegs are still down, they do have a recording of that Tapeworm song!
