+5 Internets | Lame Kazaa crap I guess the music pundits have finally found a way to make downloading music so frustrating as to not be worth the effort. I just tried downloading the evanescence cd (after being reminded by the thread), and damn if *every* song didnt have a random "this line is busy" dialtone sound every other minute of the track. Sitting here weeding through multiple copies of the songs just isn't worth it. But it ain't gonna make me buy it either!*(&% =P Heylel |

+5 Internets | I admit its genius on the part of whatever recording company is doing it. Its making it alot harder to find full songs, and most people won't put in the effort if piracy is sufficiently difficult. Just look at the explosion post napster. Heylel |

+43 Internets | I tried to D/L the Richard Ashcroft CD after I didn't buy it due to the copy protection on it. Sure enough, every MP3 I found of it didn't work, period. They were full size, even said the same length, but when you open them they play for about 5 seconds, with no sound. I would buy the CD, but if I can't make mp3's out of it, I won't. So yeah, this copy protection shit sucks. I was thinking of getting the Evanesence CD as well, but if the mp3's I make of it sound like shit, I won't buy it either. The only place where I listen to CD's anymore is the office, otherwise it's all mp3's. |

+16 Internets | Flooding the p2p programs with broken, incomplete, or distorted mp3 is most certainly the cheapest and most efficient way for music companies to kill the piracy related with these programs. Pretty clever if you ask me. |

+17 Internets | They're only killing it for people on dial up connections. If you have broadband speed then there's no reason you can't surf for 20 minutes and find the real version of songs. I also don't think their doing it to get rid of people using Kazaa as they are trying to premote their albums. If all you get is 20 seconds of music, the chorus included it can really make you want the entire song, thus making some people buy the albums. Soulseek is always a good backup to Kazaa, but there hasn't ever been a time where I can't find a song on Kazaa within 15 minutes.

+8 Internets | You use Kazaa? Use Kazaa-Lite at least. Kazaa has so much spy-ware it's ridiculous. I never believed that either until I got Lavasoft Ad-Aware 6 and it found like 50 spyware/data mining files on my comp! I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. I find just about every song I search for using Kazaa-Lite. And I never hear any "dial tone" in the song. |

I've downloaded a bunch of new music lately, and never once found that. | |

| You do realize that the only difference between Kazaa and Kazaa-Lite is the software. You are still accessing all the same stuff. The difference is the ads are blocked. Please tell me you realize this ![]() Bit Torrent is good but some of my friends worked on that in it's early stages and I am sort of avoiding them now so haven't seen it in it's final stages. |
