+43 Internets | Why do bands continue to call their US tours, "US and Canada"? It's fucking insulting. They should be appropriately called "US, and the 3 largest cities closest to the border in Canada." Their so-called Canadian tour misses the vast majority of it. |

| I was under the impression that the vast majority of canada was near teh boarder and the other parts of canada were really empty?

+43 Internets | That's true to some extent, however there are a good number of large cities that aren't near the three major ones (Van, Montreal, T-O). There is what, three thousand miles between Vancouver and Toronto? Basically anyone living in the middle of Canada is screwed, and there is 5 million or so people that fall under that category roughly. It just bugs me that so many bands have a "Canadian Tour" that consists of going to those three cities. It's like having a "US Tour" and going to New York, Seattle, and LA. Or a "European" tour and going to the UK and France only. It's just kind of shitty that Edmonton and/or Calgary frequently get screwed out of good concerts. The stupid thing is, when big acts do happen to show up, their ticket sales are the best here (there is roughly 2.5-3 million people along the Edm/Cgy corridor). For example, Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge sold out two 55000 person concerts in 10 hours (the phone system in Edmonton died). It was the only location that got two concerts. Same with U2's Popmart tour. Garth Brooks sold out three 17000 arena shows in a couple of days, when it was only planned to have one. So it kind of sucks that so few bands take the time to head out this direction, because it would probably be worth their while. |

| Yeah most of Canada is near the US border, i think Edmonton is the northernmost major city, one of them at least. But his point is that between Vancouver and Toronto (horizontally), we all get nothing. And that's one coast to the next. Oh well i'm not complaining on this one, not a Radiohead fan . Most groups / musicians come through Edmonton these days on their Canadian tours. |

+43 Internets | Heh, not really man. Only mid-sized US bands, and of course all Canadian ones come through here. Name the last time that Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Tool (okay, they did just come, for the first time in a decade), Nine Inch Nails, Primus, Audioslave/RATM, Beastie Boys, Deftones, Disturbed, System of a Down, STP, Incubus, Linkin Park etc etc etc came here. For most of those bands, the answer is never. Most of those bands, and similar large acts, haven't been within 1000 miles of here. It just kind of sucks having to drive to Van or Seattle for 14+ hours to catch a good show, when you live in a relatively major city. |
