Good, but just a re-hash

It's listenable, but far from any of my best albums list. They're getting good at textures, I can almost describe it as they're making liquid music as it streams down in a continous flow. But, it feels like to me Radiohead is getting too caught up sacrificing good song ideas by trying to prove how creative they are. In some cases, simple is better.

Anyway, I'm content with it - but to me it sounds just like a re-hash of stuff we've already heard. This is like their 'Animals' to use Pink Floyd album's as a release. Though Animals is one of my favorite Albums, most Floyd fans consider it medicore, good, but not great.

Perhaps their next album will click for me, but this one is lacking something to make me connect with it as I did with their earlier songs. A sound release, but just something I can't click with.

I love it. They may not be completely re-defining themselves, but the songs are still beautifully done.

Of course it doesn't touch OK Computer, and nothing they ever do probably will, but it's up there with my favorite albums of theirs. I like it much, much better than Amnesiac, that's for sure, and somewhat better than Kid A. It's hard to compare it to The Bends, 'cause they sound like two totally different bands.

If it came out last year, it would have been my album of the year. So far, nothing's touching it this year either.

I have mixed feelings on it atm, but it may be because I feel the best song on the album is the first one (2+2=5) so from there it goes sorta downward. There are also songs I don't like, which was not the case with Amnesiac. On Your Sleep (?) comes to mind... sounds a bit like some tired Pearl Jam or something, and Punchout at a Wedding which lyrics lack the evocative power of most other songs.

Now, things must be put into context, as a Radiohead album, I have mixed feelings on it, but as an album it is amazing. 2+2=5, Stand Up Sit Down, Sail Us to The Moon, Backdrifters, The Gloaming, Where I End And Where You Begin, I Will and A Wolf at the Door are great songs. 8 tracks of that level of production, that carefully crafted, is something only a very few bands managed to do a very few times.
