Best Thrash/Death/Speed Metal Tracks

Looking for really good death/thrash stuff. It's a genre where talented bands are certainly scarce. Band and specific track titles are appreciated since (as we all know) a band can absolutely own on one album, and suck goat balls on the next. (see Metallica, Slayer, Sepultura etc...).

Please post the tracks that you think best represent the band so others can d/l them to see if their stuff is worth buying. Here's some tracks and discs I would recommend if you haven't heard them:

Sepultura: "Arise", "Dead Embyronic Cells", "Altered State" or anything off the "Arise" and "Beneath The Remains" discs. Anything after Chaos AD sucks. IMHO the best thrash band ever. Arise is pure genius.

Entombed: "Blessed Be" or anything on the "Clandestine" disc. Anything after Wolverine Blues blows.

Pestilence: "Out of Body" or anything on the "Consuming Impulse" disc.

Helmet: "IronHead", "In the Meantime". These guys were heavy as fuck - for one album. Anything not on the "Meantime" disc is garbage.

Fudge Tunnel: "Boston Baby", "Spanish Fly" or anything on the "Hate Songs in E Minor" disc. These guys only had 1 good album as well. Sadly hard to find on Kazaa it seems.

Napalm Death: "Suffer the Children" or anything on the "Harmony Corruption" disc.

The 2 best Metal bands to ever exist IMO are At The Gates and The Haunted. They cant be fucked with. I made a post about why I enjoy them in a past thread.

At The Gates - Suicide Nation
At The Gates - Blinded By Fear
The Haunted - Shadow World
The Haunted - Bloodletting

are some good songs.

Check em out.

Dark Tranquillity and In Flames are good also, my CD's are in my car, so you get no track listings.

Hey Stroker thanks, they are both pretty cool. Here's some other stuff I've checked out recently:

Lamb Of God - the track "Vigil" rocks as do a few others. Some of their older stuff I found had really bad recording quality though.

Six Feet Under - found a couple good tracks by them like War is Coming but otherwise I wasn't really impressed. A few of their tracks had completely retarded sounding vocals - No Warning Shot and One Bullet Left to name 2. Guess they changed vocalists.

Meshuggah - I've seen some people hail these guys as metal gods. I d/l'd about 10 tracks and thought they were all kind of boring.

Hatebreed - hate the vocalist. He sounds like either a pro-wrestler or high school gym-coach turned metal singer.

Opeth - they have a lot of cool tracks. Blackwater Park, Credence, To Bid You Farewell, Hope Leaves, and A Fair Judement. Their PinkFloyd-ish and accoustic stuff is a lot more compelling than their heavy tracks.

Iced Earth and Emperor are both pretty good. I consider Opeth to be the best metal band though.

Hatebreed is Hardcore Punk though. Not to try and sway your opinions of the vocalist but they aren't metal if that's what you're looking for.

No GWAR fans anymore?
Crush, Kill, Destroy
Eat Steel

Nice tracks if you like the speed metal.

Biledriver
If you like good old fashioned fantasy metal.

A few ideas you might not find on this list...

The Haunted - Self Titled CD ... it's really good stuff if you can look past the Phil Anselmo-type vocal noises in some of the songs. Best tracks are probably Chokehold and Three Times.

Arch Enemy - Stigmata ... More of a Euro-metal feel, it's got some good stuff. Tons of excellant guitar playing, even if it is more melodic stuff. Mike Amott from Carcass and his brother Christopher do some awesome writing on this one. Some tracks would be Black Earth and Beast of Man.

Turmoil - The Process Of... This is one of the most intense hardcore albums I've ever owned. These guys broke up a few years back, right after recording this, which sucks because this is such an incredible album. It's on Trustkill records, so you may have to look for it. Try listening to Playing Dead, The Locust, and Six Demon Bag.

All Out War - For Those who were Crucified... American Metal-core with a Slayeresque feel. Really good stuff. Check out the title track, Resist, and Redemption for the Innocent.

Walls of Jericho - The Bound feed the Gagged... Personal bias here because these guys are friends of mine from here in Detroit. Short, fast, heavy music with lots of hooks and breakdowns. Female vocalist (note I didn't say singer), but she's insane. Also on Trustkill records. Check out Beneath the Exterior, Playing Soldier Again, and Why Father?

and some old school stuff...

Exodus - Bonded By Blood... Personal favorite. Check out Pirhana and the title track.

Sacrifice - Forward to Termination... Check out Re-animation and Pyrokinesis.

Everything else in my catalog is probably gonna be covered here. I'm a big hardcore fan, but I tried to stick with metal-inspired stuff more than anything for my recomendations.

You are friends with members of Walls of Jericho? I am friends with Mike Hasty from his Earthmover days. I've stayed at the infamous Hasty house a few times when I was in town (I'm from Milwaukee). Maybe our paths have crossed before I used to drive out for Earthmover shows at Pharoahs a lot.

Awesome

Yep, I've known Mike since back in early mid-'98 (right after the Earthmover split). I went to a few EM shows back in the day, but didn't really meet any of them until the band I was playing with moved into a room right down the hall from them at the Loft. I've recorded some stuff a couple times with Mike, and was the first person to ever own a WoJ hoodie (yay!). I was in a band for a while with Lenny from EM (called Cast In Fire), but things didn't work out and I split back in '99.

From what I hear, they're actually doing fairly well. I know WoJ split up for a while a couple years back, and Wes moved on to Florida and joined a band called "Until the End". But I was talking to a friend the other day and he mentioned that Mike, Aaron, Candace, and Chris started playing again with Alexei (I can't for the life of me think of the name of the fucking band he used to be in... I'm almost positive they were from the Florida area, though.) on drums, so I'm probably going to have to pop in on them one day and see what's up.

If I find anything new laying around the room when i go, I'll bug Mike to let me bootleg it and post it around.
