| New Deftones Album What does everyone think of it? I just got it and there's only like 3 songs I like on it; Minerva, Lucky You and Bloody Cape. Worth getting if you like the Deftones I supose, but deffinetly not as good as White Pony or Around the Fur.

| I never really cared for Def Tones to begin with so my opinion is a bit bias but I think the new CD is horrid and should by all means be their last attempt. As the band has progressed the singer has gotten more and more whiny(and fat). They have managed to become more annoying then any Emo band out there and god knows I hate Emo.... The band needs to punt the singer and find someone who doesn't sounds like a 5 year old begging for a toy in Walmart...

+26 Internets | First off: I have seen numerous people mention the term or genre "emo" before. What the fuck is emo? Second, I didn't like the album at all at first. There was a definite progression from one album to the next on their first releases, where they got more polished, the songs were tighter, and they began to experiment a bit more. The new CD almost seems to be a step back at first, with one or two exceptions. The album sounds like it should have come out before Around the Fur, even. But after enough listens, I started to warm up to it. I quite like it now, although I don't think it's any all that great. Doesn't even come close to touching White Pony, but it's still pretty good. |

The musics lyrical subject matter is typically junior high, "school girl problems" like "I'm so alone", "I'm unloved", "The world is so cold", "I just want to be myself", "My vagina is bleeding". The people who listen to it are normally even more annoying then the trite music. Not to stereotype but the majority of the emo crowd are whitebread, I cut and starve myself for attention, 14 to 20 year olds. I've met some what at the time I thought to be cool "emo-kids" but in reality they were just older guys pretending to be "in pain and hurting" so they could fuck boat loads of 16 year old white girls. IMHO they should label the shit "Kiddy Goth Pop", and be done with it.

+26 Internets | oh, so by "emo" you mean "Stabbing Westward"? heh, I guess a few of the bands I listen to are emo, but to be honest I gave up listening to most bands lyrics years ago. Only a select few do I actually listen to, since most is just throwaway crap. |
