Cradle of filth = best!

Hello.

I was just wondering if there is any group that is like Cradle of Filth in the way of: screaming, keyboards, etc.

Cradle of Filth is honestly the best band in my opinion. Any groups that even come close to them?

Anyone else like Cradle of Filth?

Dimmu Borgir is a thrashier version - drums are more pronounced and songwriting isn't as gothy. Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia is the album to check out for them.

Emperor has similar elements (keyboards and vocals) just done much better.

Dragonlord is a bunch of guys from Testament try at the genre. Good shit.

Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth suck. I recommend bands like Emperor,Burzum,Mayhem... If you are into that kind of music.

Cradle of Filth may not be the greatest metal band in the world, but i'd take them over any of the shit on the radio. Danny Filth's screech reminds me of Cartman from south park hehe.

Old Man's Child is one guy (plus a hired drummer usually--Galder writes and plays all the other instruments which is why you'll never see 'em live), but yeah, he now also is with Dimmu, and Dimmu guys assisted him on their last cd, In Defiance of Existence. It's a good cd, if a bit too much like Dimmu--only better--but the best one to get is Ill-natured Spiritual Invasion. Gene Hoglan, easily one of the top 3 drummers ever, played for him in the studio on that one.

As for other good black metal, people mentioned a bunch already, but I'd add Dissection (Storm of the Light's Bane), Agathodaimon (any), Ancient Rites (Dim Carcosa), Naglfar (any)... and though they aren't black metal (more like thrash, but they have the Satanic part) I'd strongly recommend checking out Lamb of God's new cd, As the Palaces Burn. Children of Bodom is also well worth your time... Alexi Laiho was 15 when they released their first cd, and already one of the best guitarists ever, and he's only gotten better.

Cradle of Filth is like the Hot Topic mallrat version of real black metal. Yea, they have some decent stuff on Cruelty and the Beast and some of their older stuff like Vempire, but lately they just recycle the same sound over and over. The sooner you move on to the true BM like Emporer and the stuff I listed, the better off you'll be.

Ive had trouble finding any groups like that tho.

All three of the bands I mentioned in my previous response are similar to cradle of filth, but better in every way. You should check them out, especially Emperor who is probably the best black metal band your going to find.
