Thumbs up Riot Act

Riot Act (Pearl Jam) came out about a month ago. I havn't heard many people talking about it around here. I was wondering what some of you thought about it. To me, it is one of their best records right next to Yeild and No Code. Any Thoughts?

I love it. At first the lyrics felt too political for me, but I'm sort of over that now (I just liked the music too much not to get over it). It's definately in my top 3.

Album REALLY has to grow on you. Heard Bushleaguer for the first time and thought, a la Furor, "What the fuck is this shit?", just like Push Me, Pull Me. Then I think, "Awesome...lyrics....". 1/2 Full is a really good song also. And Arc, though short, and a mantra type thing like Aye, Davanita, is a pretty cool tune.

I liked every song on the first listen except for can't keep. At first it seemed to be missing something to me, but now it has grown on me. I loved Bu$hleaguer the first time, his voice is amazing in that song. 1/2 full is also an amazing song, one of my favorite off of the album. Cropduster, green disease, Ghost, You Are, and Get right are also great little diddy's. OK so what I'm trying to say is I like this whole fucking album. Maybe its because I'm PJ Obsessed.

Also I downloaded PJ's live show from 12/5, all these songs sound AMAZING live. Pearl jam still puts on KICK ASS perfmorances live, and I can't wait till the come around my away during the summer.

I got into Pearl Jam really late in their career ('00) so have never got to see them light. Hoping and PRAYING (fervently even) that they come remotely near Richmond, VA.

Well if you get a chance you should really catch them. They put on a phenomanal performance Live. They can pack arena's even though they have not done promoting as much as other bands of today. Some people even accuse them of sabotaging their career's after TEN, because they did not want to fall apart like some of the other grunge bands of their time (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains). Pearl Jam lasted all these years and are still making damned good records. People don't like them because they dont want to come out with another record that sounded like TEN. Those people need to get over it, they are happy, and still making awesome music, with new types of sounds. I admit TEN was a GREAT album. But in my eyes as a PJ fan since... a long long time... TEN is ranked last among their albums to me.

This Album owns.

I love every song on it, except Arc.

Personal Favorites:

Cant Keep
Love Boat Captain (damn this song is so good)
I am Mine
Thumbing My Way
Green Disease
1/2 Full

I'm pretty sure they'll be touring the US after they get done with their Asian Tour.

It kind of pisses me off, I would love to see PJ but they haven't come to Edmonton in years and years, like basically all big name bands.

And it's not like this is some bohunk city. Bands of PJ's size generally sell out the hockey arena here.

Hell, we were the only city in the world for Popmart that actually sold out two full shows. Same with Voodoo Lounge.

A few weeks ago on CNN, it was reported they would be doing a club tour prior to their full blown American tour...that could be sweet...

I'm not 21 yet (yeah, flame me, go on, I'm in college, just not there yet), so I'm kinda outta luck on the club tours unless the local rock radio station snags them or something, which is highly unlikely. Or PJ, in their infinite wisdom, realizes they have under-age listeners =P
