| Video Game Music! A lot of people don't appreciate some of the excellent music in video games. But for me, most of my favorite songs are actually from video games. Seems wierd to some people, but I love em ^_^ Anyway, the point of this post is, if anyone is a fan of video game music like me (or if you are just looking for some great music) go check out http://remix.overclocked.org/index.php Great website with hundreds (thousands maybe?) of VERY professionally done video game Mp3 remixes. I'm sure at least a few people on these boards have heard of OCremix, but if you haven't ever been there before, go there and download some tunes ^_^ |

+4 Internets | On the subject of video game music though, some are great by themselves and some obviously have a higher nostalgia value than musical value. I guess that holds some thruth for film music too. Now off to find a player that works with these original musics hehe...

| A few years back I actually took a bunch of different music from some Playstation games and made my own little tape of game music I loved the original Ridge Racer music, so quirky and fun. Also Loaded had a good soundtrack with music by Pop Will Eat Itself. I later got their album and quite enjoyed it. Medal of Honor also had some great music, and there was another game, but I can't remember which Anyhoo, there is some excellent music coming from games lately, and with video games becoming such a hot comodity its only going to get better.

| My favorite music is probably stuff by Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy games) and Yasunori Mutsuda (Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross/Xenogears) The music they write for games is just amazing.. But yeah, a lot of video game music is great just because of the nostalgia...which is why I like Overclocked Remix so much. Go download a heavy-metal remix of the old Mario or Zelda theme ^.^ |

| Heh, I used to download Secret of Mana/Final Fantasy MIDIs all the time... I would have Relm's Theme constantly playing on my old computer. /nostalgia off Just to throw another website out there, the music section of RPGamer posts a lot of remixes done by random people who enjoy that sort of thing.

+4 Internets | Yuzo Koshiro's music for Actraiser 1 and 2 are simply amazing. Using classical orchestrations, it ranges from very moody pieces dominated by violins to military marches with a strong melodic presence of the brass section. Filled with clever changes in pace, sudden climaxes and, I don't know how to describe it, very productive interactions between the different layers of the music. Of course the original music still feels pretty synthetic (even more so with the player I found on PC that on the real games I feel), but I also have some mp3 with medleys made with a real orchestra and it is jaw dropping material.

| Szlia: You like that stuff? You should hear the musical score for Hitman2. I personally think it rules, and it's all original, made for the game. The song that plays at the main menu is the best though. In fact, that's a great idea, I'm going to go play the Kuala Lampur level now ![]() |
