+7 Internets | I like this one: Wish I could find some decent stuff off of Tres Hombres. Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers or La Grange. Man I love those songs when they come up on the Ipod. I feel bad for a dude who can hear some old rock but can't feel it. Sad times there. Had to add this one from the same show. They played this in MN a few years back. +26 Internets | I was having a discussion with a buddy the other day, and a couple other guys we ranged in age from 30-50. We were talking a bit about how I for example can put on the local classic rock station and hear Alice in Chains which was music I listened to in High School and how that made me old or whatever. Classic Rock came up and here we are 4 guys ranging up to 20 years a part that all loved that music for various reasons, younger people seem less into it now then I think the youth of ten years ago. Much of what was born in the 90's was rooted in the 70's Seattle and all that so it was hard not to be exposed to it if your dad hadn't already put it into your head. We discussed though how so many modern bands are formulaic and play it safe. Many you can argue do so for money fame whatever, Nickleback route, but many also I think do so for fear of being a "sellout" which I think is something that sets Classic Rock apart from more modern music. Take Queen for example; an incredible band and by definition Classic Rock. This is a Band that did Stone Cold Crazy a hard rock tune if there ever was one, but then do Bicycle or Crazy little thing called love and then do Bohemian Rhapsody or the Show must go on, Christ they gave us Vanilla ice... Point being back then as a band you were limited only by what you wanted to do, by what you were capable of writing. Sometimes it wasn't good, sometimes it was legendary. If Queen today tried to pull say an album of their lighter songs after an album of hard rock they would be sellouts. Their music would be passed off as tripe by the masses and it might end their careers for no other reason than people are retarded sheep these days. The exact same songs they wrote could be totally ignored because they tried to make themselves genreless.... Now today you're only allowed to be broad with your music if you are an indie band. If your band finds any kind of mainstream success in anyway then you are forever doomed to produce the same album time and again lest you be "selling out" regardless of whether or not what you produce is actually inferior to the previous album or not. It's kind of sad really. Music should inspire and at it's most primal that inspiration should want to make people produce music themselves it should release something in the person that they never knew was there. The biggest rock bands of all time have introduced legions of people to guitars and what have you because the riffs get into you, drives you to want to make that music with your own hands. So much of classic Rock is driven by the riff it's over indulgent often enough but it drives people to actually playing music which is something that not a lot of modern rock can brag about. Least of all indie bands who seem to go out of there way to not produce anything catchy lest they become "mainstream" which in itself is selling out. |

| Van Morrison - moondance Video | 4:33 Sig, a rather dubious site for the video, though. I guess he doesn't want his shit on Youtube? I dunno.

| I'm amused by this thread and the fact that nobody gives a shit about James' sigs but it's sweet that he continues to post like it matters! Go James!
