An example (and I'll probably get negged for it) is the new single by Muse. Apparently people jizz at that song but to me, it's no different from Linkin Park or Nickelback. If you pay attention to it, it's the same shit for 5 minutes or however long that song is. The coolness just wears off after the first minute or two when you realize they're going to repeat the same shit.
To be fair, classic rock is pretty much verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge/solo, chorus with each section being a repeat of its previous incarnation.

Right now, art rock is in the lead. Rock's swagger was beaten senseless by the over indulgence of hair metal, then removed entirely by the mainstream success of grunge. Following grunge were passionless rap rock hybrids and emo clones. Right now, simple art rock (progressive rock without the progression, Muse is an example) is drowning out any possibility of swagger from returning.

People who want swagger in their rock have to look back to the 70s and 80s to get it. They like classic rock because that's the only place it can be found.

At least that's why I like classic rock.

Modern swagger in rock? It's Creed. Creed is the direct evolution of 80s hair bands. Otherwise, the only genre that I can think of the top of my head where swagger still exists is probably rap. Everyone else grew up.

Back to classic rock. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with it. It was fantastic for its time, I am sure.

What I am saying is that those who basically lock themselves into one genre, and one genre that by its very definition hasn't seen a new release since the end of the 1970s, those people strike me as someone who have chosen a very "safe" genre to identify themselves with to minimize potential criticisms of their taste.

Don't you get tired listening to the same "greatest" 15-30 albums by LZ, Who, Beatles, Doors, whatever? Every time I hear a classic rock song somewhere nowadays, my stomach starts churning and I'm not even 30 yet.

You did read the shit-tastic list of bands you threw up, right? Are you a badass for listening to the Flaming Lips?

That and the fact that nobody here has said that we exclusively listen to classic rock. I really think we're all getting trolled at this point he can't be that retarded.

Not enough people talking about The Doors and The Who in this thread, you all fail.

The Doors: Songs with such breadth 4 minutes after it starts you are like omg is this the same song? Holy shit this is awesome.

Nickleback: I got 5 power chords and a photograph.

Plant sounds like a woman on 50% of Zeppelin songs I can't stand that shit.

O O O O YOU DONT HAVE TO GO O O O O O

Having a high voice is a blessing for a singer. Allows you to utilize a much broader range.

Yeah I've really gotta agree with that. There has never been a front man greater than Robert Plant, I don't care what anyone says. That band was legendary.
