Here are several old school trance mixes that are quite good:

Tiesto's ministry of sound stuff is good.

If not, Armin VB's state of trance stuff is usually awesome, so seconded on that front.

I also am an advocate of Armin Van Buren's stuff. He fills up most of my trance lists, which isn't that big. The only Deadmau5 song I ironically have is the one Lumie linked. I also enjoy Oceanlab, they are very relaxing so I wouldn't really suggest it if you are driving, but definitely worth checking out. Also, a song by Arno Cost - Cyan is amazing. I think I had it on repeat for about 2 hours when I first heard it.

YouTube - Arno Cost - Cyan

YouTube - Oceanlab - On A Good Day

YouTube - Oceanlab - Ashes (HD)

YouTube - Oceanlab - Just Listen Video

OceanLab is great. Liked their remix album, especially this song. Play it loud.

I'm going to see Above & Beyond in Columbus tonight. My neighbor knows I'm a big electronic music fan so she invited me and I said yes without knowing much about them.

I'm a pretty big house fan, but I don't listen to much Trance. Are these guys considered pretty good?

Above and Beyond are pro, I like it better than any shit Tiesto puts out. Definitely some good trance there. Same goes for Oceanlab, which is just A&B with Justine Suissa doing vocals.

Armin is awesome, I've met him a few times, Ferry Corsten as well. Gabriel and Dresden is another fav, although I don't think they work together too much anymore. Also, <3 some Chicane.

Still recovering from that Above and Beyond show, but I gotta say they really exceeded my expectation. I'll definitely be checking out some more trance now.

Most people don't know what the difference is between trance, techno and house, and all their variants. Even people that put the labels on the music on websites or other venues often don't know. The end result is that lots of people don't know what kind of music they're listening to. Not because they are clueless about their taste, but because what they listen to is being systematically misrepresented.

Not exactly what you asked for (trance), but a great find if you've never heard them before.

As far as general 'easy to listen to' music, Explosions in the Sky give some amazing instrumentals.

Yeah, unfortunatly Electronic Music has way to many sub categories. Which makes it so confusing to find stuff that you like.

That said, it can also be a lot of fun exploring different styles that you did not even know were out there. I do a lot of blind purchasing from a vinyl distributor that hooks me up with some pretty amazing stuff that I would have never thought to look for.

For those of you that are looking for some great DJ Sets, and check out different styles, livesets.com is a pretty cool site for that. Sign up as a member (free) to get access to the forums. They get a lot of exclusive sets too. Not associated with them, other than having been a member for a number of years, just giving a heads up.

Check out Livesets.us Streaming Download Livesets Dj Mixes. They got all the sets from the big DJ's on there. This is a great way to find a ton of different trance artists. I think Markus Shulz puts out the most solid radio show.

G&D broke up almost 2 years ago. Josh Gabriel got tired of carrying Dave Dresden
