Best guitarist ever?

I have to go with either Hendrix or Page, but you could probably make a strong argument for Randy Rhodes.

Wow thats a hard question to answer, their are so many genres of guitar... My personal favorites would be Jimmy Page and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Joe Satriani is amazing and Jaco Pastorius was pretty damn good too.

There's alot of ways to gauge who's the "best", and one persons view of what the "best" is will be different from the next persons "best". Guess that's music/art for ya...

Personally, I look at a combination of A) their raw-talent plus B) how much they influenced music in general.

Hendrix is the obvious choice...much more so than Page or Rhodes, even though they were both exceptional guitarists too.

As far as living guitarists, I vote Vai.

Truthfully, although i LOVE hendrix, and he was a good guitarist, hes not the best. He may have had a big influence over music, but he didnt write anything that was too .....difficult, id say. Randy Rhodes.....has my vote , its a true shame that he died, and is nice to see him mentioned here makes me upset just thinkin about it hehe. Anyways, Rhodes #1........Dimebag Darrel #2.....Hendrix #3

I'd say Hendrix, Page or Clapton, but there are better guitarists out there, just very unknown

Jaco played bass, actually. But he was the best fuckin bass player that ever lived, hands down. R.I.P.

I can't decide on best guitarist, to tell the truth. So many different ones I like for different reasons. Hard to pick just one. Kinda like trying to pick a single favorite album, lol.

Basically depends on the person you are, and whether you truly dig whichever particular guitarists style.

Efrim from Godspeed, Page, Hendrix, Richie Blackmore, Michael Karoli, Adam Jones, these are a small few of the ones I hold upon high.
