| Summer Music Yeah, I'm looking for music that reminds you of summer, you find yourself listening to moreso than in the winter, or just has a summer vibe to it. I've got a roommate who is looking for me to burn him ilke 10-15 discs of 'summer' music, and honestly, most of you guys on here are pretty good with recommendations, so I thought I'd see what you guys can suggest. Some of the stuff I've included thus far has included: Weezer (Don't Let Go, Holiday, Photograph, Island In The Sun), Smashing Pumpkins (Cherub Rock, 1979), Queens of the Stone Age (In The Fade), some Postal Service/Death Cab, Gnarls Barkley, the New Pornographers and Gorillaz. Although I'm open to any/all suggestions. |

+25 Internets | The last couple Chili's albums are probably the first that spring to my mind, because I think they've all been released in the late spring/early summer and tend to be on the radio quite a bit over the summer. Especially Californication. Porno for Pyros kinda reminds me of summer as well, both albums (first is better). Blind Melon for some reason just popped up, even though I don't own anything of theirs. Same with Space Hog. Eminem as well, but I think that's mostly cause I go houseboating every summer, and every time I do out of 60-100 boats on the beach, half are playing his latest song. It's like there's 30 echoes. Nelly as well. |

| Yeah, the RHCP are the same thing with me....last couple of summers usually revolves around heavy rotation with one of their new discs. I'm thinking of throwing 'Cabron' on there, or one of the non-singles. Sublime is awesome for the summer, as well. Same with 311, Jack Johnson and Ben Harper. I'm having a hard time coming up with female artists, though. |

| Oh yeah, RHCP is a win and funny you mention Cabron. But ya, it's such a "happy" song and cheerful song. Cabrooo, cabroooon... hoho. Anyway, if you're into Weezer, don't forget Buddy Holly. I'd say I'm gonna find Arctic Monkeys here for the summer plus some U2, Modest Mouse, Manic Street Preacers, Alanis Morisette. Thinking about some Interpol and Incubus as well ![]()

What would you recommend from the Preachers? I've got some stuff on them, but my knowledge of them is kind of spotty. | |

| Registered User | Summer: RHCP for sure. Millencolin and Rancid. Goldfinger's first album. Nine Inch Nails cause I always end up breaking up with a girl and looping Reptile in a drunken stupor for a few days. Winter: Brand New (New CD inc soon!), Minus the Bear, Mr. Bungle, mad amounts of jungle. |

+6 Internets | Artists The Killers- Whenever the first few notes of "Jenny was a Friend of Mine" start up, my mind just wanders to muggy summer nights driving around Long Island. The Hippos- Doesn't evoke such strong sensory memories as The Killers, but is just great Summer music for me. Any catchy DDR song- I only play DDR in the arcades during the summer, so hearing the music reminds me of long nights spent with friends dumping dozens and dozens of quarters into machines all over the East Cost. Individual Songs 50 Cent- If I Can't air- Surfin on a Rock / Alpha Beta Gaga The All-American Rejects- Swing, Swing Andrew W.K.- I Get Wet Everclear- White Men in Black Suits Goldfinger- Superman Modest Mouse- Float On RX Bandits- Nothing Sacred SR71- Right Now Suicide Machines- Sometimes |

| Hi everyone, been reading for years but finally got posting rights. So be gentle with me! Here's some just off the top of my head, probably some eclectic choices: Toots and the Maytails - Pressure drop, 54-46 (That's my number), Monkey Man. Just the tip of the iceberg really, their old stuff is really solid. Gomez - Songs like "Get myself arrested" and 'Catch you up" are excellent barbeque songs Spoon - "Anything you want", "Metal Detector" Some of the more mellow Spoon songs. Probably 2 of my favorites by them. Nick Drake - "Hazy Jane II". Nick drake is by far one of the most overlooked songwriters of the late 60's/early 70's. This song is an awesome upbeat summer song. I'm a sucker for horn sections. Mountain Goats - "The pig that ran straighaway into the water, great triumph of". Just started getting into this guy and this is the track that stands out for me right now. I'll try and think of more. |
