| I agree that the new music from the hip isn't the greatest, but they make up for it with new orleans is sinking-killer whale tank version. If your local station doesn't play it try to find the mp3, best version ever. |

+29 Internets | lol yea, there is also the live version, of, uh I think it is Highway Girl or something. Gord goes off into this story about some couple who live in a apartment (it has a real santa fe look) and decide to kill themselves, but they only have one bullet so they have to sit with their backs to each other so the bullet will go through one and hit the other. It gets fucked up and the guy just ends up killing his GF. You have to listen to it, it's funny as hell. It's actually better than the killerwhaletank. Shamu and Bartholomoo, lol. |

| I love live Hip, in addition to that great version of Highway Girl, there's the live version of Nautical Disaster where Gord does the 2 minute discussion about Jodie Foster at the beginning. Haven't heard the killer whale tank version of New Orleans is Sinking, but I'll look for it. |

+29 Internets | Seriously man you have to find it, it's great. The best part about those two song is that he is just making that shit up as he goes, and it always ends so fucking great. There is also the part in Grace Too on their live album where he briefly talks about a "big fucking bear" coming. Unfortunately the times I have seen them (about 5 times now) he hasn't gone off on any serious tangents, although he does change up lyrics etc. Seeing them in a smaller venue, the Jubilee opera house, was really really good, the sound was incredible. Much better than seeing them in an arena, and about the same as seeing them outdoors. |

| Wow, cool thread... how many of you are from Edmonton? Unfortunately I was out of town the weekend The Hip came to Edmonton, heard it was a kick ass show... ah well next time. Recently saw Tegan and Sara (twin sisters from Calgary) and highly recommend them (especially live), yes they are a grunge band but damn do they put on a great show. I normally don't like their type of music but they really impressed me. Another Canadian I saw recently was Sarah Slean, again not really my type of music but damn can she sing and play the piano. Absolutely incredible voice... and how can you go wrong with $8 tickets and a venue filled with chicks. And tonight off to see DJ Tiesto... not a Canadian but how can I not recommend him! He is doing a Canadian tour the next few days, if you can find some tickets I suggest you grab em and go. |
