| Rap/Hip-Hop without the gangster shit Hey all, Anybody know of some good rap without all the "I fucked 20 bitches last night, smoked a pound of weed all right" bullshit? I'm looking for stuff along the lines of Lupe Fiasco-Superstar. Hip-Hop that tells a story, has a meaning, etc. Also, if it avoids "fuck white, the white man is the devil. I'll stab him with the end of my bat-shovel" it'd be appreciated.

| Have links to samples of some of that stuff? I am on a company connection (my personal one is covered by the company) so I can't really pirate any songs on it; I'd be buying all of the shit from iTunes or other venues.

| Phonte, 1/2 of Little Brother, is my favorite rapper right now. His page is Phonte on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads Really laid back...there really aren't that many artists out there making laid back music like him right now. He also does some R&B in his group The Foreign Exchange. You may also want to check out the artists on // The War Lab // if those groups I listed are too laid back for ya

+4 Internets | Here's two del songs that I enjoy (first one is stupid but funny). It's for the most part "fuck-whitey" free. Spoiler Alert, click show to read: Wouldn't necessarily call it intelligent, but it is outside the norm. First song tells a story that we've all encountered in our lives, that's for sure. |

+46 Internets | I loathe most popular rap, but I'd argue that the artists posted below offer some of the most lyrically magnificent music being made today. Atmosphere Aesop Rock Brother Ali Cunninlynguists People Under The Stairs Living Legends Immortal Technique Last edited by ValkyrieIsAboutToDie; 07-14-2009 at 07:36 PM.. |

| Buck 65 has a very rash voice (Tom Waits ish some would say). Very nifty lyrics. Immortal Technique (like someone previously mentioned) has a lot of agression and a kickass flow (but doesnt do the gangsta thing and is quite political/social). Puppetmastaz are a german band displaying puppets live. One of their singer kinda sounds like Mike D (at least thats what it felt like live) and another sounds like B-Real from Cypress Hill. Akira the Don is an english rapper that sings about a bunch of different stuff, with sometimes a very funny accent. Speaking of funny accents, the Streets have just released a new album (UK rap as well, with some pretty funny lyrics, check "fit but you know it" if you don't know it already). In case you'd want some french one, check Svinkels. |
