This is a pretty big deal. Signing with Roadrunner was a great move on their part.

I would venture to guess that's the highest charting non-glam/thrash metal album in history. Amazing.

Same here, I also have to miss the DT concert in denmark.. I live in a tiny tiny country and we hardly ever have big names here and a prog rock band will never stop by here.

They're doing a stupid New York-Canada-California tour. Fuck I hate tour promoters that don't realize that half of the United States does not live on or near the east or west coast.

DT has always been shitty for that. Whenever I see them it's usually at least a five hour drive.

Saw DT last year when they came to Vancouver for the prog metal tour. cheese made some jokes about taking 20 years to finally playing in Van. For 40 bucks, Opeth alone was worth the admission and we got DT as well. Was an amazing concert for how much it cost. I'm definitely going to check this record out. Wasn't too impressed with the last couple records (though they weren't bad).

I was gonna make a snide remark about how "Canada" doesn't just include Montreal, TO, and Van. Then I saw that they're actually doing Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton. Nice!

The state of Texas has five major cities and a population of around 75% of Canada's. Dream Theater is doing 6 shows in Canada and not a single one within 1000 miles of Texas.

Fuck Canada.

Heh, last year was the first year DT came to Vancouver ever so I feel ya. I remember one time they played in Hong Kong within a week of my departure from that place. Like, what the fuck? Who listens to DT in HK?

At least in Japan, Jmetal and Jrock bands are popular so it isn't a stretch for them to like western rock/metal. If you've heard what kind of mainstream music Hong Kong people listen to you'd understand.

Most western metal is very popular in Japan.

Why do you think every fucking special edition is the 'Japanese special edition' and why all the concert DVDs are filmed either in the band's home town, or in Tokyo?

The reason for the special editions in Japan is because by law, import labels must be cheaper than domestic so they make a special edition of the CD/DVD to cost more.

I just know DT is really popular in Japan. One of my roommates is a Japanese exchange student and he went crazy when he found out I was a big DT fan. You can even see this in some of the documentaries on DT. In one Portnoy makes a comment about how in America it's a bunch of computer geeks asking for autographs and in Japan it's hot Japanese girls. I think it's in the extras of Live at the Budokan.
