| Well I admit, when I listen to DT these days it's a playlist in fb2k that goes something like: 6:00 Lie Mirror Pull Me Under Ytse Jam Surrounded Space-Dye Vest so I guess that kind of skews my view of the older material. I still don't think they've done anything remotely close to the heaviness of Lie/Mirror, however. As for Moore vs. Rudess, when Rudess writes a song half as good as Space-Dye Vest, maybe I'll change my mind.

| It's been my favorite DT song since first hearing it. DT fans are staunchly divided on that song. A lot of fans LOATHE it and the ones that don't like it a lot. I wouldn't hold your breath on hearing it live though. They tried to get Kevin to join them at the 20th anniversary concert and he declined. Maybe at the 25th or 30th he'll give in, but I doubt it. There is still a lot of animosity between Kevin and Portnoy that will make it tough. |

| Correct, but the reason Portnoy didn't do the most recent record is because he didn't want to work with Kevin. An excerpt from a recent interview: Blistering.com: One of the other bands you've been involved with OSI, their most recent album, "Blood", is the first not to feature you on drums. Was it just scheduling problems that meant you couldn't be involved with it? Portnoy: No it wasn't a time factor, it was really a chemistry factor that boils down to my experience doing the first two OSI albums. To be honest with you working with Kevin Moore [former DREAM THEATER keyboardist] is just not much fun. He's really a very… I'll put it politely, he has his ways of working which aren't very conducive to collaboration and it was kind of frustrating the first two albums that I did with him that I did not have any reception to collaboration. That's alright 'cause I've done sessions where I've just gone on and played drums, like with Neil Morse or the G3 tour with John Petrucci, I'm fine with that, but as long as it's still fun. But it's not even fun with Kevin, he's just very uptight, serious, so I figured, "Why would I do this again? It's not anything I can contribute to artistically." It's not even really that much fun. So I passed on doing it. It's a shame because Jim Matheos [FATES WARNING] is one of my best friends and I love him and I'd still love to work with him in some sort of project. But it really isn't a fun situation for me with OSI. |

| finally listened to this. The Best of Times is incredibly hokey vocally even for DT and Wither is standard throw away DT ballad. The other 4 songs were terrific if a bit excessive but again.. its DT. Def enjoyable though. Quote:
