Rap Does anyone else here listen to rap. Not hip-hop radio bullshit. Not DMX, wu-tang, jay-z and all those other weak excuse for rappers (minus jay-z, he has good flows) Im talking along the lines of Lynch, X-raided, Doomsday. If so what songs and artists do you like the most. You can see what mine are on the "rap and techno" thread.

| Well I havent been at all interested in the rap scene for a long time now, but I can say without a doubt check out Anticon. Most importantly Sole, because he's like, amazing. I would highly reccomend trying to find the anticon Comp album "Music for the Advancement of Hip hop" www.anticon.com I would also reccomend other semi popular underground artists like MF Doom, Virtuoso, et all Basically if you want good rap you cant expect to hear it on mtv/radio/bet/whatever. Just like any other music

If you're saying Method Man and the Rza aren't rappers, you're on fuckin' crack. Brotha Lynch is good, but the only Doomsday I've heard is "Trouble" with him and Lynch. Check out Hieroglyphics/Souls of Mischief, they throw down some badass beats...

You don't want mainstream but like Jay-z.... he's as mainstream as it gets. There is a lot of rap out there from the "mainstream artist" that is not mainstream, try listining to the other tracks on the CD's and you might be suprised. DMX is more street level than Jay-z, a lot of his music could not get released as singles and be as popular as what some of his music has been. DMX was the shit long before he ever blew up and became "radio bullshit". BHo has some nice artist on his list. Old school Nas (first 2 cd's) are classics

Slug (Atmosphere) kicks ass. I've met the dude a few months back at the Fifth Element down in Minneapolis. He is one of the best underground rappers out there. His new CD 'God Loves Ugly' is real good. Anticon, Slug, Musab, Aesop Rock, Sage Francis, Eyedea, Sole, Dose One, Swollen Members, & Living Legends all own. I'm probably forgetting some right now, but oh well. You should check out all of the rappers I've listed, I bet you'll like. About half of these guys are from MN too. ![]() Last edited by Del : 11-11-2002 at 11:54 AM.

First Born Only CD I know that Eyedea put out was "First Born" with Dj Abilities. He features on alot of Albums though. He's better known for his battle raps & freestyles then his written shit anyway. Almost all the beats on "First Born" are clean as hell, but his written shit is par. EDIT: Not saying all his written shit is par, but alot on this CD is. Last edited by Stroker Ace : 11-11-2002 at 03:00 PM.
