| OpalesentAsphyxiation: Guess what, you don't know everything, just because in your opinion someone isn't talented doesn't mean that they arn't. Sure Slipknot arn't the best band around but saying they can't play music is just stupid, it's obvious they can play music, they've had 2 albums.

| As for Martyr AD (I assume that's the name of the band in the original post)... Vocals sound like a cross between Fear Factory (I don't believe that's an accident either, given the fact that Martyr is the name of one of FF's best songs) and Kilgore, I would bet money the guitar is a downtuned 7-string like every other nu-metal band, and the drums sound like Slipknot. Nothing really stood out, other than the fact that the back-up vocals were really bad and the production was fairly poor. So they can sound like a reasonable facsimile of a few other bands in their genre.... that's step 1 above 'cover band' and now they need to do something to make their sound unique or no one will give them the time of day. My two cents as a long time listener of metal and someone formerly involved in metal radio back when there was such a thing. |

Like I said above, there's not really anything wrong with Slipknot; there's just a whole world of metal you're missing out on if you think they are as good as it gets... | |

| Vorph - Opeth is an amazing band and the Bloodbath CD rips! I would highly recommend anyone who likes metal that hasn't heard of Opeth to check them out. Their songs are very deep musically and emotionally. I'm willing to say they are the most talented metal band out there right now. Bloodbath is the Opeth singer and some other big names from the death metal scene and it's a brutal, fun album to bang your head and shit to. Slipknot is overhyped. I bought both thier cd's. First one was decent. Had some good tunes, but got old quick. The Iowa cd just sucks ass and i wish i could sell it back !#%@ Just because you play faster, drum blast beats not in rhythm with the band and in fact, it all sounds like they all playing thier own beat and not together. I felt the same way with Pantera's Great Southern Trendkill. That album sucked. As for the band this thread is about, I liked it. Nothing original, but it wasn't bad. It sounded quite a bit like a cross of Meshuggah and Hatebreed. Still could use a little practicing to get a little tighter sound and if given the chance for better production, that would help alot also, but don't give up. It's hard to sound original these days anywhere and people will always put a label on you first chance they get. Oh yeah, Otep is NOT the same as OPETH. lol Otep is ok, but i can't stand that rap vocal shit that chick does. |

and also. since I make the majority of my posts in the music forum at once, after I get home from work, three/four posts in row is fine with me, I choose to share my opinion and articulate it unlike the above which is simple, mindless Slipknot worship.

| Where as you post several portions of meaningless self indulgence. I prefer Worthless's post 100x more than yours, he's just stating that he likes a Band and telling you why he does, sure he cusses every 2nd word but fuck it it's the Internet. You however seem to think you are the teacher and we are the pupils, I don't care what kind of music you like, but when you say others opinions are wrong I begin to dislike you.

| Guys I just heard the most hardcore album today. Its called Justified. You gotta listen to " Like I Love You" and "Cry Me A River" omfg it blows shitknot and Krap (k for korn) out of the water. (For all you morons out there, I'm being sarcastic. The moral of the story is that hardcore isn't a set definiton of music, it changes from person to person. You guys should stop bickering over this lame crap. People have different opinions. You can't make them change their minds, and they can't make you change your mind. Accept it. Also, listen to what you want to listen to.) |

because when I hear "so and so is the best" I come back with defintive examples of why I think they aren't? I guess you don't like my posts because you'd rather hear the mindless spouting of bullshit, than my "self indulgence". I can call whomever I want on whatever I want, thats the beauty of the public forum. if you don't like it you can throw whatever you want my way. once again thats the beauty of the public forum. If you want me to stop posting my opinions, which in this case is far better articulated than the shit you are supporting, go tell furor, have him ban my ass. otherwise I don't give a shit.
