This is really good to hear. I was nervous that this album would suck and I love GnR.

Nah. This is a great album, it's worth the money.

Buckethead wrote a lot of the riffs for this when he was with the band, he then quit and bumblefoot came around. Both shine through, and there are some AWESOME guitar riffs.

My favorite song is "There was a time" especially the long guitar part at the end.

Yup. You can tell the Buckethead riffs apart from Ron's stuff, and both are fantastic players.

Overall I wish the album had a bit more rock and a lot less acapella-Axl, but I'm not disappointed with it. I had low expectations and it certainly exceeded them.

i love the slower ballads much better in this album and the previous GnR LPs , i think its more natural to axls personality than than the rock n roll asskickery was. i wish he had dropped the whole GnR thing and just gone with a solo album titled simply Axl Rose. then he could do what he wants to and not have to fit the GnR mold. its not like any GnR fan didnt know who axl is. dunno why he stuck with the band name . GnR is pretty much over. go with your solo wants. if Ozzy can do it so can Axl.

Just listened to the album in its entirety on their Myspace, and I'm very surprised myself how good it is, more so because of how small my expectations were. You mean a rock band can go away for a long period of time and come back and still bust it out? I'm shocked! *cough* Metallica *cough*

Of course, I then used the player there to go back to "Sweet Child of Mine" and listen to it 4 times in a row. Still one of the best rock songs every written, period. I NEVER get tired of hearing it and it bums me out when I realizing how few and far between songs that great are.

I think with that track and Foo's "Everlong" as my only music forever, I'd be just fine.

guns and roses had so much potential, I look at them as more of a cautionary tale than anything sadly. If Axl had been anything close to resembling human that band might have made it to levels never seen before.

However, let's not get ahead of ourselves, you can't even compare g&r to metallica, just the body of work is beyond comparable. It's apples and oranges.

The greatest line up for a concert was G n' R opening for Metallica, and Axl went and fucked it up. Metallica made fun of him afterwards

I didn't like it on first listen. Listened to it a few more times and it kind of grew on me. I think I was just expecting something different, of course 14 years later and with an entirely different lineup the sound changes. I don't think it's bad, I just don't think "GnR" when I hear it. So I will keep listening and I like it. Some catchy songs. Nothing I would compare to old GnR.

Coming from someone who never really got into gnr, if they had a good vocalist this would be a pretty good album. Axl ranges from obnoxious to horrible for most of the album. (learning more to the latter)
