Not even sure what to lable these guys under .. heard things from electroclash to techno-punk toss'd on them. But regardless, I like them, and sorta acted as a gateway band into getting me interested in other types of techno. For a long time, the only music I listened to was punk/etc, but ATR sorta bridged a gap into other music and got me onto DJs like Neophyte, DJ Promo, Marc Arcardapane (sp), gabber/hardcore/etc and eventually to some 'softer' stuff like hardhouse/jungle/etc.

another one to toss out there is The Shizit, but IMO, ATR pulls it off better.

Shame on me I don't know well Atari Teenage Riot but I have a MD of an album made by Alec Empire (the leader of ATR i believe?) titled The Destroyer... and well... it deserves its title. Using quotes from 50s Hollywood movies and sheding a new light on them ("If I have to smile one more time I think my face would crack") and then drowning them in a massive barrage of fast beats, distorded guitars and electronic sounds... all that with an Atari Falcon! Uneven, but often very impressive in raw power and efficiency.

It certainly one of the most violent music I heard. It's only beaten in my book by artist like the japanese Merzbow whose music is a limit exerimentation with sound. No rythm, no melody, no words, it sounds a bit like a huge waterfall in a river filled with metal pieces... Alec Empire is certainly more accessible and rewarding
