| Pandora Radio - Listen to Free Internet Radio, Find New Music It allows you to set up radio stations based on your favorite artist or songs then using the music genome project builds a play list around the stuff you like. You can approve or pass on each song eventually building yourself a custom radio station. |

| Here's a few music links from a thread I made on another forum. I tried to remove most of the ones that are already mentionned above. General Wikipedia - Wikipedia is obviously not just about music, but most well known bands have a page dedicated to them. There's usually their discograpy and a short biography and links to the band's website/myspace/fanclub etc. Rock Rockdetector | The World's Biggest Rock Resource on the Web - Rock music database. Popular Blog Tracks / The Hype Machine - Another really useful site is The Hype Machine, particularly the "Popular" section, which gives you a top 50 chart of the most viewed/downloaded music blog tracks. It's great for indie/electro kinda stuff. It's also the best place for getting remixes, b-sides, covers and rarities for your favourite bands. Heavy Metal ANUS.COM: American Nihilist Underground Society (A.N.U.S.) at www.anus.com - Stands for “American Nihilist Underground Society”, one of the first website dedicated to metal music. This site is the best place to go if you want to learn about extreme metal, and the philosophy that surrounds it. Also has an extensive section about nihilism if you're looking for enlightment :). Chronicles of Chaos - Extreme Music Webzine - Chronicles of Chaos. One of the longest extreme metal webzine on the internet. Has reviews, interviews and articles on everything related to extreme metal music. BLABBERMOUTH.NET - Heavy metal news website. Not always very relevant, but sometime has interesting things Forum Extreme Metal Forum - A forum that includes links to a lot of extreme metal video and documentary. WELTMACHT ODER NIEDERGANG Another intelligent website that specialize on Black Metal and other related style of music. Only recommended to die hard black metal fan, there's nothing interesting in there for someone that prefers other subgenres of metal. Nonetheless the reviews are pretty well done and well thought. Very interesting website. Hessian.org: death metal, black metal, heavy metal and metal culture as philosophy - Hessian.org. One of the many sister website of A.N.U.S., this one is dedicated to the heavy metal culture. It has a pretty good introduction to heavy metal for those that don't know where to start, and a few articles about the hessian culture. DEATH METAL: Death Metal Music, Death Metal Bands and Death Metal Culture at Deathmetal.org - Another A.N.U.S. website, this one is obviously dedicated to death metal. It has a good search engine if you're looking for information on specific bands (death metal and black metal). It also has a pretty good section about the history/philosophy/ideology of death metal. Anime Music Gendou's Anime Music - for all of those anime music lovers. Techno Techno Music – Interesting website on everything related to techno music. Has reviews, articles and a forum related to the genre. Folk FLUXEUROPA HOMEPAGE: DARK MUSIC AND MORE - Website that specialises on NeoFolk music. Hasn’t been updated since 2005 but the website is still up, and still has a lot of interesting reviews. Online Radio Pandora Radio - Listen to Free Internet Radio, Find New Music - Internet radio where you enter a song or an artist you like and they'll play similar songs from similar artists. I used it for a while a couple of months ago, and it's actually pretty good if you give it some time to adapt to your tastes. It's not available anymore to canadian users though =(. IcebergRadio - Canadian old fashioned (meaning you don't get to choose what you listen) Internet radio. I can only vouch for the metal part of the site, which is ok. chroniXradio.com Free Live Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Radio on the Internet – Internet Metal Radio. Might be an ok alternative to Iceberg Radio although it seems to stay a bit more within the boundaries of popular metal. Last.fm – The Social Music Revolution Internet radio where you can somewhat decide what you listen to. A bit like pandora, you enter an artist name, or a genre, then it gives you tracks from similar artists. Also allows you to keep track of all the songs you listen to with a plugin that works with most media player (not mediamonkey though =( ) Musicovery : interactive webRadio You decide the type of music you want to hear, and the mood you're in, and it gives you musical suggestions. I tried it a bit and I wasn't impressed by the choice of music they seem to have. Might still be a good place if you can't use any other internet radio. Live365 Internet Radio - Thousands of Free Online Radio Stations - Has hundreds of internet radio on almost every genre that exist. Online Experimental Radio Station - Live365 Internet Radio - Postclassic Radio – Post classical radio. The playlist includes mostly newer classical composers. You might need to register to listen to it though. Media Player foobar2000 - Arguably the most customizable music player that exists, you can do amazing things with this if you put some time into it (look for columnsui if you are interested in customizing foobar) MediaMonkey Free MP3 Jukebox Player, Music Library Organizer - Music player for those like me, who can't be bothered to take the time to customize foobar to their need, and that do not like iTunes and the like . You can synchronize iPods with it, which means you don't have to install iTunes or quicktime at all (same holds for foobar). Winamp - The most popular media player after WMP, Winamp is another option if you want a good media player that does not use a lot of memory. Lyrics EvilLyrics - lyrics plugin - the best lyric plugin you'll ever need. You can find lyrics for nearly any song by nearly any band very easily with it. It's not perfect, as it sometimes gives you either wrong lyric or unrelated stuff, but it's much better than having to look on the internet each time you're lisetning to music. Dark Lyrics - metal lyrics archive - One of the best website about metal lyrics (updated regularly). Lyrics - General lyric website. Seems to have an ok selection. Other freedb.org > Home - Database of cd track listing. Pretty useful if you’re looking for some cd information. Thanks to AvariceX for reminding me of Pandora. Chilln_1ce for last.fm Karasuhebi for gendou.com Aftermath for Wikipedia.org Vicious for darklyrics.com and chroniXradio.com hfswjyr for sing365.com and freedb.org Robzor for Winamp Cloudpost for The Hype Machine from dota-allstars.com |
