Thoughts on who should/should not get in? Obviously Metallica and Run-D.M.C. will be shoe-ins, but what about the rest? Edit: fix band name.

| The Stooges is actually more obvious than Metallica. Iggy redefined rock 'n' roll and set the bar so amazingly high that it's really hard to think of someone who rocks/rocked harder than Iggy. Not to mention the three albums they put out while they were the Stooges -- The Stooges / Funhouse / Raw Power -- are three of the greatest rock 'n' roll albums of all time. And the fact that the Stooges are back in the midst STILL touring, makes them even more obvious.

| Absolutely, Jeff Beck and in no particular order, Metellica, War, Run-D.M.C. and the Stooges. The list is actually pretty disappointing. Echoing what Fulorian said; There are so many more deserving artists / groups that aren't in yet.

| I'm shocked that Jeff Beck isn't in already. They guy is a huge influence to guitarists everywhere in nearly every facet of guitar-based music. Metallica & Run DMC redefined music and should absolutely be in, same as The Stooges. I don't know how you could call the rest Rock and Roll in any fashion.

| Be interesting to see if Slayer and/or Pantera ever get the nod to even be on the ballot, both eligible this year. Love em or hate em, they really opened the gates for Metal to progress the way it has. |

| Still no Rush... I remember them on the Colbert Report when he asked them why they aren't in the RnR Hall of Fame and then said you should name your next album... "That's Bullshit"

They will both get in , Metallica was eligible last year and wasn't put on the ballot. Megadeth will as well I imagine though I suppose Mustaine will be in by default like previously mentioned Clapton and crew for the Yardbirds. | |

| I'm looking at the overall list of inductees, and I'm not sure that any of that list will be denied. I actually wonder what the hell the criteria is. Wanda Jackson was country/honky tonk, not really rock and roll, but honky tonk was the precursor to rock and roll so... Little Anthony was R&B, which wasn't far from 60s rock and roll. War had a couple hits...and managed to bring American rock and Latin culture together. Chic was the most influential disco band...but that's like being the best tasting toilet seat. Bobby Womack should definitely get in. Probably the most influential in that list. The Stooges and Jeff Beck should be in. Everything Beck touched turned to gold, and The Stooges were the first band to take the R&B out of Rock and Roll...making it just Rock. Metallica legitimized underground heavy metal. Run-D.M.C. took what Grandmaster Flash (inducted in 2007) did and made it grow. Flash is in BECAUSE of Run-D.M.C. Chic and Wanda Jackson are probably out. War shouldn't be in, but looking at the former inductees... Little Anthony had too many hits to be out and Bobby Womack wrote too many big hits (including the Rolling Stones' first number 1) and had too broad a career to be left out. So...Metallica, Beck, The Stooges, Run-D.M.C., Little Anthony and Bobby Womack in. War, Chick and Wanda Jackson out. Last edited by Dr. Funkenstein : 09-27-2008 at 06:12 PM. |
