+23 Internets | Well it's a bit unfair to say that anyone made Dylan aside from Dylan himself (even if I prefer Cash to Dylan, I'm still a huge fan of both). But to say that Cash didn't have a heavy hand in helping Dylan along in his early years is a bit disingenuous, especially when talking about their respective influence. Cash is a legend amongst legends, is the bottom line. Though Dylan did have a son that puts out some fairly baller music today. |

| I agree with those stating Dylan's song writing skills wtfpwn, cuz they do. His voice irritates the fuck out of me though. I don't have any of his songs and unless someone else sings them I really don't ever want them in my collection. I don't see the Bob Dylan movie anywhere... Maybe Phillip Seymour Hoffman could play Dylan. He plays some really off the wall characters sometimes, he could probably pull Dylan off and even the fucked up voice somehow I would imagine.

| Considering that Cash has had a lot of attention in the past few years from: A: NIN + Cash do "Hurt" B: Walk the line C: He died It's actually surprising that Cash isn't far ahead in the poll.

+8 Internets | I don't mind it at all. Most of the people I meet who say they hate his voice usually haven't listened to all that much Dylan in the first place and are making a shallow and closed minded judgment IMO. Its pretty much subjective at the end of the day but I think people tend to go way over the top in their bashing of his voice. Last edited by Fammaden : 07-21-2008 at 08:00 PM. |

+1 Internets | I saw Dylan in concert about 10 years ago and it was the worst performance I've ever seen (although Guster came in a close second). The man just doesn't give a fuck anymore and has no need to. I don't find his voice pleasing at all either. However Dylan still blows Cash out of the water when it comes to song writing and influence on music. I'd rather listen to a Cash album in a heartbeat, but Dylan transcends my lowly opinion. |

| I don't want to knock J Cash, because he was an awesome musician and contributed greatly in his own right, but Bob Dylan is LIGHTYEARS ahead of him in relevance and impact. I don't think this is a fair comparison at all. Bob Dylan is in his own class. Dylan was the "voice of a generation" that helped to define the 1960's, the greatest decade in American history. He was perhaps the greatest American lyricist, despite his own personal objections, I believe this to be true. He's a fucking poet in the truest sense. Johnny Cash was a great musician and a legend. Bob Dylan was a GOD (his Christian bullshit past "Blood on the Tracks" doesn't really count).
