| man up nancy, what made you cry? i love music, i pride myself on having a wide range of musical taste. but the most powerful songs to me are the ones that made me cry. music is an embodiment of emotion... Plato said “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” and that pretty much sums it up from a few thousand years ago and proves true to this day. so here's just a handful of the songs that pulled tears out of me at one time or another. 1. you dont know me - ray charles 2. hollow - pantera 3. hallelujah - jeff buckley 4. stay - sugarland 5. language or the kiss - indigo girls 6. the other side of jordan - hooker family 7. love of my life - queen 8. down the hill - traditional irish folk song rules of this thread are: 1. no posting: you're a pansy for crying at that (will be broken within 5 posts guaranteed) 2. see rule 1 3. be honest! rules 1 and 2 demand it! *edit- i should have mentioned this, but situation and song can go hand in hand... for instance 2 and 8 were situational. and most ppl remember funeral songs forever.

| I know there are more, but the main one that always comes to mind is the first few times I heard: Mogwai -- Ratts of the Capital I remember driving home from work that summer and listening to it, and that consistent build was just breaking me down to tears, happy tears though, like big grinned smile, almost glad that you're crying to a song so powerful. I'll think up some more, but now I'm going to go to the bar and beat some woman and other non-crying manly things ![]()

| Pretty easy to be honest. Akino Arai - Voices (acoustic version or no instruments)

| Only song that has brought tears to my eyes would be Lightning Crashes by Live, and that was only due to the circumstances in my life at the time. Well, that and any AIC song that I heard for a few weeks after Layne Staley died. Most sad songs just chill me out. They generally don't make me feel sad.

| oddly, when staley died i thought it sucked.. i was very into his vocals.. but instead of an AIC song, river of deceit by mad season pulled it out of me. i was so hoping they would do another one. btw thats one of my favorite albums... wake up young man still reminds me he wont be back
