| Should Chris Cornell find a new band? I thought about this the other day... Chris Cornell was awesome with Soundgarden, especially the album that made them big with Jesus Christ Pose, Rusty Cage etc. The next album, SuperUnknown, was pretty good. I like the songs off Super... but not nearly as much as the previous album. Along comes Audioslave and their first album was like the answer to wtf is the good rock at? Like a Stone was a beautiful song. The movie Collateral came out and my god that part where they play Shadow of the Sun. Set it Off, Show Me How to Live, Cochise... all great songs. Next 2 albums they released were ok, nothing spectacular like the first. I really hoped the 3rd album would be them catching another gear but it just didn't happen. I don't think Chris Cornell is the only real talent in that band but I really think unless they find some serious creativity among them that they should cut their losses and swap some members around. Chris Cornell has an amazing voice and he's always sang the kind of music I like. I'd like to see him find another quality band with some new creative juices. The rest of STP should kick Scott Weiland's ass because they've always made at least good music if not great music together. I think Slash should hook back up with Axl just to try and give GnR a shot if there's any life left in that band at all. If not someone needs to capitalize on Slash's talent and get him back in a band cranking out new music. Just my opinions, I'm sure everyone else has their's also.

+19 Internets | I was listening to Audioslave's first album on the way to work today and it is indeed awesome. Soundgarden, however, is some of my favorite music from growing up. Cornell's voice is seriously awesome. Oddly enough, I don't own the other two Audioslave albums and only know the radio-released stuff, which was decent. |

+25 Internets | Chris Cornell has consistently made awesome music with various bands over the years, and has consistently made mediocre to outright bad solo music. He absolutely needs a good band to compliment his vocals but also to make good music. He's easily amongst the best rock vocalists of all time. |

| Plugged In Like Neo | One of the best vocal performances of the whole grunge 90's era was Chris Cornell in Say Hello to Heaven by Temple of the Dog. His voice gives me chills everytime I hear that song. Other than that, sometimes his voice gets on my nerves. I won't deny that Soundgarden were one of the better grunge bands (although Alice in Chains were my fave by far) but by time Audioslave came around I'd pretty much had enough of Cornell's voice TBH. To each their own though... |

Doesn't seem there's a winning formula for Cornell. He's made great, decent, and meh music as both a soloist and a frontman. But at this point I hope he finds another rock band because that side of him has aged better.

| Here's a thought... Cornell as lead singer of Alice in Chains. He worked pretty well on Right Turn (AIC's Sap album)

| Alice in Chains got a new singer that is spot on for Layne Staley and I think they made the right move. That guy is supposed to be able to sing exactly like Layne on every song. I just hope Layne was the voice and the rest of the group was the creative force.

Personally, I don't think Chris Cornell needs a "band." He's the biggest talent to come out of the Seattle music scene imo with a seemingly endless well of creativity for music. He's written the majority of the music in everything he's done from Soundgarden, to Temple of the Dog, to Audioslave. Yeah his last solo album wasn't great, but I loved Euphoria Morning. I actually like it more than any of the Audioslave albums, and Audioslave's first is pretty damn good.

| cornell is a bad ass dude no doubt but the 90s are over and his time to shine is complete. the first audioslave album was the only one worth a shit. the further they moved away from grunge the harder they sucked. hes made some good music in his time no question about it but his relevance to the current generation of young music listeners is very minimal, his only audience would be his already established fans. |

+2 Internets | Why did Soundgarden break up? (given I'll wiki it after this post) But in today's world of everybody reuniting (see: Rage) -- why don't they just form Soundgarden again?
