Make this album a priority. It's only around 33 minutes, so it'll be a quick listen, but by far one of the best albums ever.

Goddamn. Can't preach this album enough.

The Richard D. James album would make my list of 5 desert island albums, but I don't understand why it's being recommended here. It has nothing in common with any of the artists in his original post.

I mean, I'm not complaining, just saying, there's twenty other "really good albums" that I could recommend to anyone but I don't see why to expect this dude will like them.

Exhibit A: Trance/Techno/Dance(100+Songs)

Exhibit B: I'd summarize his collection as "hodgepodge 90s" where he's missing probably the main innovation from the 90s, IDM (for lack of a non-shitty label).

Exhibit C: He has daft punk on there, so, he will probably like their peers. He has a bunch of electronic dance metal, etc.

Some more:

Amon Tobin
Fatboy Slim
Justice - SebAstian - Mr. Oizo - DJ Medhi (just get everything from Ed Banger)
Oval
Mouse on Mars
DJ Shadow
Mr. Bungle - Disco Volante
Cornelius - Point
Neutral Milk Hotel
Ol' Dirty Bastard - Various other Wu-Tang

Again, not so much because his taste is in that music, but that those are seminal albums from the 90s that fill in gaps. If I was gonna list the 50 albums that formed the core of the era that he's focused on, yep...

I'm just arguing for the sake of arguing at this point -- but what would you do if someone had a collection of "hodgepodge '60s" where he's missing the Beatles? I wouldn't dare recommend him the Beatles! There must be a reason they're missing!

In all seriousness, if you wanted to recommend seminal '90s electronic music, I bet that say, Juno Reactor (probably Bible of Dreams) or FSOL (probably Accelerator) would be more up his alley.

Well the OP put the word "expanding" in quotes so I figured that because of his hodepodge 90's collection, RDJ album would be a good place to launch from.

Plus there are plenty of tracks on RDJ that any hard-rocken fellow could love. Plus, from that album, it opens doors to so much more music, if anything, more Aphex Twin

Slayer (any and all albums) and for a counter point, the Grateful Dead (American Beauty).

Ministry goes well if you like Daft Punk and Prodigy.

Since you have 2 of the 3 good rockbands imo from the last decade on there (audioslave and white stripes) you should check out queens of the stone age also, latest album check out 3's and 7's, previous album No One Knows, You think I an't worth a dollar.

I don't see much classic rock on there but you need a good base of that to appreciate newer music and to listen to basic badassery such as Black Sabbath paranoid album, doors, Hendrix, deep purple...
