| H.R. 2905: Shut Up Sean Hannity! Call your Congressman and warn them to not sign the petition created by U.S. Congressman Mike Pence of Indiana. H.R. 2905 will prevent the Federal Communications Commission from implementing the Fairness Doctrine without an act of Congress. Implementation of the Fairness Doctrine will be the first step to stop the lies and distortions and take Republican talk radio off the air. Together we can work to stop:
Conservative talk radio is damaging this country. Do your part and warn your Congressman there will be voting backlash if they sign H.R. 2905. Mike Pence and other Republican politicians rely on the lies and distortions from the Republican Media to get elected. Stop them now. You have the power to get them off the radio. Imagine a world with Sean Hannity off the air. Quote:

| I would have a difficult time packaging Michael Savage with Hannity and Limbaugh; he's far more cerebral and can be quite educational about topics far outside of the political arena. Boortz is relatively harmless as all he really does is mock the dem candidates, complain about education, and push the fair tax plan. That's 207 in favor. What's the count of those who oppose publicly? Last edited by ashatumar : 06-12-2008 at 04:22 PM. |

| Cool, I'd support this if we also did it to Liberal Talk Show Hosts (If there any that are remotely popular). Nice way to push your agenda, idiot-

| This congress couldn't even SLOW DOWN the war funding Bush asked for. It couldn't censure Rush Limbaugh without helping the man make 2 million bucks for charity with their own indignity. It couldn't get a timetable out of Iraq. It couldn't muster any effective resistance against any supreme court appointee and it couldn't even get its story straight about why it has failed so dismally with every campaign promise they made to the radical anti-war left and George Soros... ....And you expect them to support a bill that supports the adoption of a draconian free-speech impediment that came out of the worst period during McCarthyism? You don't even TRY to think at all before wolfing that MediaMatters garbage down your throat dont you? |

| What makes you think that the FCC will reinstate the Fairness Doctrine on their own, even if this bill does fail? And making the leap from there to a further conclusion that it would result in the airwaves being cleansed of conservative talk radio seems a bit overly optimistic. The fact is, guys like Hannity have fans who love listening to the shit he spews, and at best the Fairness Doctrine would simply allow the people he disparages on air to have a chance to rebut his statements--it doesn't require that the stations have to have a liberal show for every conservative one. And who in their right mind would want to use that right to rebut? They'd just end up opening themselves to further attacks, or worse, having to talk to listeners calling in to the show. Much as I hate Hannity et al. (despite being a republican myself) I also think that Fairness Doctrine deserved to be struck down for First Amendment reasons and should not come back. | Fairness doctrine is just a way to limit consumer choices. Radio stations are in business to make money. Radio shows that people listen to make them money. If said show happens to be liberal or conservative is no business of anyones OTHER than the radio station. -sniff- Its not fair that I cannot participate in pro-football. Why can't we have teams made up of middle aged, overweight men, and be shown on Monday Night Football?? What is that you say?? No one would watch it??? THATS UNFAIR!!! Lets set up a Fairplay Doctrine so the television networks have to provide our new SFL (shitty football league) equal time even if the consumer doesn't want it. Yeah.... Alright. |

| There is no internets | IRB is an elitist. He is all about censorship and against anything that he doesnt agree with. Basically if he was against violent video games, we would see him on CNN standing hand in hand with Jack Thompson asking to ban or prosecute the developers of said games. Only elitist think they know how to run your life better than yourself, and will stop at nothing to make sure you do as they see fit. IRB, you arent a liberal, you are a facist. Gratz.

| Even if the FCC did bring the "fairness doctrine" back it would be gone within 2 years. The SCOTUS has already ruled that it has a "chilling effect" on free speech and does not apply to new communications technologies. This, along with some lower court decisions, is what prompted the FCC to stop enforcing it. It's pretty funny that a socialist is trying to bring back a policy designed to silence communists/socialists on public airwaves... |

| There are some lame liberal talk show hosts too. Like this guy named Lionel on Air America, I listened to him argue with some dumb female caller about impeachment versus conviction for 60 seconds before I turned off the fucking radio. And commercials on AM stations always want me to buy GOLD, what the fuck? |
