I have a digital package for HD channels (and HD DVR), as well as HBO. For some reason my cable company doesn't offer (or plan to offer) on-demand, so I am seriously considering switching to satellite. It sucks because my parents live 15 miles away, under a different cable operator, and have on-demand everything.

On demand is pretty great, especially for the series that the big companies put out. The movies they offer tend to be old, but sometimes you can get some real gems on there. (one I loved was Pauly Shore's Natural Born Komics (LOL))

You have to watch those subscriber numbers they throw around. While I have sat radio. About 2 months ago I read an article that said close to 50% of the "active" subscribers they throw around in advertising etc...is new vehicles that are sitting on the dealers lot because they get 3 months free (GM) or 6 months free (Ford).

I've had Sirius for 3 years now, and I love it. Shade 45 / Boombox / Faction / Alt Nation have been keeping me entertained.

Jason Ellis is a crazy bastard.

Yes, the DOJ has ruled that this merger will not cause a monopoly, but I don't think we will ever see it go through. There is too much money being thrown around in govt by these 70+ year old terrestrial radio companies, and the people behind them, that know that a product as attractive as what Xirius (yes that is a real "merged" name being thrown around) has to offer will be yet another nail in "old" radio's coffin.

In reality, terr. radio needs to realize that there is no use in fighting it, digital distribution has enabled people to listen to what they *want* to instead of what the FCC says is acceptable, people just aren't going to put up with being force fed anymore. Especially when every person with an iPod can carry around twice or more of what a typical radio stations library holds, or is allowed to play anyway.

I hope they don't allow the merger to go through. XM and Sirius both have different ideas on how their music channels are programmed. Sirius - beat you to death with the same song over and over(like FM), and XM plays deeper tracks with less repetition. I have Sirius now but I am thinking about changing to XM. I hate to give up Stern. ><

I used to have XM and it was stolen out of my car last fall. I haven't yet gotten around to getting it again because I got a new car that has the option to have it installed right into the existing system. I'll be doing that sometime in the near future. I'm definitely going with XM again because XMU was so awesome.

My SUV gets 20 mpg, but my commute is only 12 miles. So 240 miles every two week for commuting, leaves me 80 miles of whatever before I have to fill up my 16 gallon tank.

I have had sirius for over 2 years now. Its has been complete shit shit for the last 8 months. I have called to cancel on many occasions but they keep giving me free months so whatever.

Use to be pure music all the time now its DJ's and fucking Bam radio taking my rock music time to talk about getting stoned and other stupid shit I don't care about. Not to mention all the DJ's have increased their talk times between songs. If I wanted to listen to some dipshit talk through the beginning of my songs I wouldn't be paying for it. Again its been free for a while so whatever.

Call in to cancel and I bet they offer at least a free 2 months.
