+9 Internets | oh god, why did this thread have to happen in the week I was without internet? Pretty much all the good stuff was covered. I didn't see it linked (I may have missed it), but this is pretty much this best site for fan remixes. A lot can suck, but a few in there are very, very good. | how can there be no mention of Castlevania: SotN in this thread? gah, no point linking the entire music list Whenever you meet sheik in Ocarina of time, the music that plays could mellow and cheer me up for hours |

| All around fail in this thread, so I must save it. Great video game soundtracks; Homeworld 1 and 2 Deus Ex Silent Hill 1/2/3(and probably 4, but never played it) Black & White 1/2 Star Control 2 C&C 1/2 and Red Alert Portal Diablo Everquest My overall favorite though is the first Homeworld game.

I respect your opinion, but really.. everquest has a good soundtrack? Outside of plane of time, and plane of tranq themes, every single song just sucked. The battle themes were terrible, and extremely repetitive. I'm pretty sure thats why most people never played EQ with the music on. I know I didn't much. You just can't compare something like EQ to something like cutscenes in Ar Tonelico II, or battle music in EQ to battle music in Xenogears IMO. Sorry, but thread not saved! ![]() Quote:

+1 Internets | Yeah, hearing Tristram music in D2 was awesome. But of course the best is just everytime you had to back to town in Diablo I, I've heard that opening guitar part hundreds of time and love it more each time. Also since you couldn't run in Diablo I, you had a lot of time to walk around and hear that song all the way through.... The main part is that it triggers all that old school fun playing Diablo I.

As for EQ, I never meant the PoP soundtrack, more of the Velious era and before MIDIs. Add to the fact that it is more or less nostalgic for a lot of people on this board. As for the rest, to say that they are simply "lame" is beyond retarded, and shows your short sightedness.

| Hey man, I already said I respected your opinion . And yes, I think about 98% of all PC game soundtracks suck a big one, so I'm admittedly biased. Console game soundtracks are far better than PC game tracks, which is why console game soundtracks released on CD sell well, but its almost impossible to buy PC soundtracks on CD, as that would be a waste of money because no one would ever bother to buy them. Additionally, that is why most people know who makes console soundtracks for certain games, but have no idea who the musicians are on PC games. |

+2 Internets | This video game has the best music ever, but... is it video game music? I would not call it that.

| Phantasy Star series (specifically IV as mentioned by op) and Lufia series (specifically II). Lufia II and PS IV were and always will be my favorite RPGs. YouTube - The Prophet: Lufia 2 Music YouTube - Lufia II - For the Savior End of Lufia II (long) with great use of music. Play it or read the synopsis off wiki if you plan on reading the characters' text and really want the feel. YouTube - Lufia 2: RotS (SNES) Ending - part 1 of 3 And now I need to replay Lufia II. Goodbye, first week of summer. Last edited by MrFwuffers : 05-11-2008 at 07:11 PM. |
