| The Offspring - Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace new album from the offspring set to be released June 17th. these guys have always been a favorite of mine so i'm pretty stoked since we haven't heard anything from them in a while. heres a few samples from the new album. quality sucks but i get the impression this album is gonna rock. sounds a little like smash. half-truism (and another song thats unidentified starts 3 mins in) http://www.nothingboard.com/audio/halftruism.mp3 hamerhead http://www.nothingboard.com/audio/hammerhead.mp3 |

+4 Internets | listened through the album, its not bad. i can't compare it to splinter since i don't remember listening to that album, but overall i'd say every other song is good after the first few songs which are solid. edit - this is coming from a guy whose favorite offspring album was probably ixnay. |

| I listened through it a little while ago. It's nothing ground breaking but its another solid Offspring album. They're albums are generally awesome for driving fast in the summer with the windows open.

+1 Internets | The first half of this album is very solid; vintage Offspring that hearkens back to the glory days of Ignition, Smash, and Ixnay. The second half is -- well, I don't know what the fuck it is. I would rank Offspring's albums as such: 1) Smash 2) Ignition 3) Ixnay . . . . . 4) Americana . . 5) Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace . 6) Splinter . 7) Conspiracy of One 8) The Offspring Edit: Minor note, I will almost always go to a music store and purchase the CD of a band I REALLY like (there are only about seven or eight such bands). Despite recent mediocrity, I associate The Offspring with my growing up, so I saw fit to go to FYE to pick up their album. Well, fuck that. What's up with not packaging CDs in jewel cases? Thing was packaged in cardboard, looked like a random game demo, so ITunes it was.

| One of the first CDs I bought was Americana and as someone described earlier, it is perfect music for just cruising in a car with the windows down and aggressive (but safe =]) driving. I still love practically all the tracks on that album. Still haven't bought this, looking forward to it, though I don't expect it to be anything revolutionary. |

| Oh no, I'm not saying I haven't heard their other CDs, just that Americana will always have a special little place as being one of my first CDs I actually went out and purchased... It always invokes nostalgia. |

| LOL same. First two CD's I ever bought were Offspring Americana, and Greenday Nimrod. It's got a special place in my musical tastes that can never be matched.

I'd give Ixnay the nod over Smash for best Offspring CD, but Smash has Bad Habit, which was, pound for pound, the most badass song I ever heard growing up. I haven't really listened to them at all since Americana. Their singles always sound good when I hear them every now and then. Maybe I'll check this new one out to see what they're up to. | |
