if this is legit, i'm pretty stoked to hear the new album. even though axl has been grab assing for the last decade or so they're still one of my all time favorite bands.

I've been listening to the leaked songs for a while now... some good, some not so much. Not sure what's going to be on the album though. It sucks that buckethead didn't work out. I thought he brought a unique sounds to their music that really worked.

im kinda divided. on the one hand 13 years is a long fucking time and axl had such a huge input into use your illusion 1 and 2 that im hopeful he can deliver on this. On the other hand slash izzy and duff where so much the core of that bands sound and music writing that i think whatever comes of it will be decent but not guns in roses.

I was more excited to hear Weiland was leaving Velvet Revolver to go back to STP myself. Hope they make another album.

Who says those guys won't come back for GNR now that Velvet Revolver is done though (apparently)? They have a fallout with Axel ? I don't pay attention to GNR drama but with all the money at stake you'd think they'd be able to make amends.

I read Slashes bio not to long ago. As a G'N'R fan it's an intersting read, Slah is fairly complacent towards the Axl situation, I doubt he would ever go back to Guns but you can see the respect and the understanding of the insanity.

It shed some light on things I wasn't aware of, specifically the role Axl had in the band over the other members. Izzy was as much a part of the riffs as Slash was if not more for example, further more many of Guns biggest hits were written almost exclusively by Axl. November Rain for example and songs like estranged which is incredible.

Something else I thought was interesting is that outside of Drums/Bass/guitar all the music on UYI 1/2 were created from synths that Axl operated. All the choirs,the orchestras all the layering. The band would come in during the day and lay down the rythym sections of the songs , then Axl would come in after they left and stay there all evening and into the night doing the synth's,adding in all the sound effects and things like the intro the Coma, then he would leave in the morning, this process took him a year and a half when the band itself was done recording after something like 3 months.After they were done Slash would come in and do the solos, much of which he did apperently in less than 2 weeks.


Axl really is an artistic genius and like most Artists of his ilk that are madly obsessed he is also extremely introverted,a sociopath and bat shit loco.


Some of the shit he pulled during their time as a band was pretty fucked, Slash let him stay at his moms house,one day his mom comes home aned Axl is crashed on her couch(they lived downstairs) Mom wakes Axl and he tells her to fuck off, whatever. Later while driving with him Slash brings it up, Axl meanwhile grabs his arms hugging himself moving back and forth in his seat obviously quite uncomfortable with the conversation and before Slash can finsih Axl opens the car door and jumps out while it's moving, then once he gets up he runs away.

Shows up to rehearsal the next day like nothing happened. This was long before Appetite so they knew all along the guy was fucked in the head and that it was only a matter of time ....


Before reading the bio I had my reservations about the album because I put alot of Stock into Slash as being a large part of guns, he wrote some great riffs but much of the music was based off melodies Axl and Izzy created,then for the illusion albums much was created by Axl so maybe it won't be so bad the members not being there.

That said this album is hyped beyond belief and really it could be the second coming of Jesus and people will still hate on it. It's too bad because Axl Rose is an obviously Talented guy, he just has the misfortune of being crazy.

Its been about 18 years since use your illusion and i am still waiting for a new GnR. too bad Axl lost his voice and is completely unprofessional now as opposed to being semi unprofessional back in the 90s. nonetheless i will buy chinese democracy the day it comes out.
