| In Flames - A sense of purpose Surprised there hasn't been a thread on this yet. New In Flames album coming out Tuesday, but it's floating around on torrent sites. I'm a big fan of these guys, but god this album is bad. It offers nothing new, nothing special, and lacks a good addictive song such as Trigger, Pinball Map etc... The band has gained a lot of new fans from having songs that work very well with fan made Machinima videos. But this album really has no good showings. Adding this to their previous 2 albums, which weren't bad, but weren't really that great either and I'm now officially worried. They need something to shake them up.

| As someone whose hated their past few albums I actually enjoyed this one. Something about it... while similar to their past three shitty albums brings back memories of their old and good days in the Jester Race / Whoracle era.

| Curious to hear this. I one of the few people who doesn't think Come Clarity is a piece of shit and In Flames are "a bunch of sell out faggots", but I still prefer Colony/Whoracle (although Reroute to Remain was the album that got me into metal.. love that CD). The Metal Scene (compromised of mostly close-minded fucktards) loves to hate "new In Flames", so this album definitely cannot be judged by reviews. I look forward to giving it a listen. :P |

| It depends on when you got into In Flames. If you came in during Clayman, Reroute or after then you'll probably like the later records including this one. If you are an oldschool fan you probably lost interest a long time ago. I became a fan with the Lunar Strain album so my view is different. I don't really like anything post Whoracle, but I always give each record a chance. The whole thing is available on their myspace page right now. I listened to it and to me it sounds pretty much the same as the previous three records. It isn't "bad" and I'll buy it since I own all the others, but I doubt it will be in my play list for long (though I hope it will grow on me). I'll probably just end up slapping in LS/Sub/JR/Whor and be happy. |

| Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea they already had a new album coming out. The only In Flames album that I would dub as terrible was Soundtrack to your Escape. Come Clarity was pretty heavy/thrashy compared to Soundtrack or even Reroute. Hopefully I can catch them live again if they tour for it, was a fun show.

+12 Internets | I liked Come Clarity and parts of Reroute, but this album is a real let down. Obviously, none of the recent stuff compares to Jester Race etc, but jesus it's rare when I can't get excited about a single track on a metal cd. My biggest complaint is that every song sounds so similar. The tempo never really changes during the whole album, and it all just blends together. Track 1 is okay, but then thirty minutes later I suddenly realize that seven songs have flown by and I hadn't even noticed. In Flames can still be a great band, and they're an amazing live show, but they need to refocus on making catchy music instead of generic songs that showcase Ander's clear vocals. - H |

| I enjoy just about all of In Flames' stuff. The only gripe I have about this latest one is that most of the songs sound.. kinda the same. End result: Too much sing, not enough shred. 7.5 out of 10 Last edited by Malice : 03-30-2008 at 05:04 PM. |

| Yeah I am hoping it will grow on me. I remember my first few listens through Tool's latest album didn't catch my fancy, but I love it now.

| After giving it a few more listens I'm picking out some favorites. Track 4 Alias - This actually is now stuck in my head Track 10 Condemned - Fucking sweet drum intro Track 12 March to the Shore - I like the vocal arrangement in this one But I'm still sold on the generic sounding guitars in most tracks. |

| I'll have to check it out. I REALLY like their musicianship but the singer's voice just irritates me sometimes. I didn't like Come Clarity as much as Sountrack to Your Escape. Lately though, nothing compares to Killswitch Engage for me. Seriously stuck on this band right now. Rose of Sharyn just blows me away.
