I'd love to hear a remixed And Justice.. That maybe had the worst production ever, that is until I heard St. Anger with the single most horrific drum tones ever recorded.

Lars should be beaten with sticks for ever thinking that was cool.

St. Anger still had some good songs regardless of the shitty drums. The Unnamed Feeling is one of my favorite Metallica songs period. On the other hand, Purify makes me want to hurl. Simply can't listen to that song.

Metallica are releasing their old albums in vinyl. Maybe they will end up re-mixing some of the albums. If they do that, they might get regain some respecks.

They're only making 500 copies of each album. All the audio is remastered and everything is by far better quality than it used to be. The Vinyl folder is made better and the record itself is of higher quality than anything made in the past.

I ordered 1 of all albums, mainly because of the value they'll hold later. Only 500 copies of each... they'll be worth something later on.
Just like I'm sure my -Original- Ride the Lightning and Kill'em All vinyls will be worth something.

Pretty sure I read on UG interview with Lars that they are going to be using the normal snare drum set for this album.
Aswell as having Kirk perform a decent amount of solo's.
All in all, things look up. Decent drum track + e tuning + solos + thrash riffs = near impossible to be worse than the last 3 main albums.

That is, we are all assuming James still has God's gift of riff writing still. Please..

Anything after And Justice is crap.

Go Megadeth and you will never look back.

I went Megadeth and I looked back. I'd rather not listen to music.

James talks about how he fucked up his vocal cords in the documentary.

Something about him having to reach too far on the black album thanks to a vocal coach.

I had the black album when I was in what, 7th grade? Never had any others.

I got all the albums last night, including garage and SM. I am listening to the St. Anger album now, and it definitely sounds alot different. I am not sure I like their whole attempt at like "nu metal" with the Korn style guitars and bass. Actually, I am quite sure I DONT like it.

I guess they have to stay competitive in modern music to sell records... but I am not sure who the new stuff is aimed at. It's not a old fans, but is it at young new fans? I can't see anyone just starting to listen to Metallica in 2008 and going "hey this is a great new album!".

Are these guys trying to get new converts, or please old fans, or what? I assume they are just in this for the money, seems like they'd make more by pleasing people already familiar with their work.

I mean, Enter Sandman on RockBand is one of the best times I've ever had in a living room.

I listened to all of St. Anger today.

Totally forgettable. Throw a nu-metal mall singer on it and it would be the latest soundtrack to Zumiez.

From interviews and shit I've seen and heard, it sounds like they're in it for a number of reasons.

1) They love playing live and love playing music
2) They're under contract for X amount of albums
3) It's their source of income
4) Overall they just love to play

James has already come out and said they love to play and that's why they do it and if the fans don't like their music "Fuck'em" were his words followed by the finger, and this was back before the Black album was released.

Regardless if people think their music sucks or not, it doesn't matter because they're gonna make a metric shitton of cash anyway, regardless if the album(s) go platinum or not.

And to reference Rockband.. I do not have this game/setup but I did hear that Metallica will be releasing songs from the new album for Rockband before the actual release of the album.
Sounds to me like they've put aside the whole "Napster Bad" bullshit and going with the age of digital shit.
