| I haven't heard it yet, however, just saw this. Fucking have class starting at that time =(. Hope recordings of it are around when I get back. : More Death on the Radio 9/3/2008 [ back ] You may have heard a little something about a radio show being broadcast live from our very own HQ . . . well, we figured it would be a lot more fun if we invited some 'Tallica fans to come hang with us and low and behold, one thing led to another and Foo Fighters Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins actually said "yes!" So on Thursday, September 4, we're going to hang out, play tracks from "Death Magnetic" and chat with Dave and Taylor. The festivities begin at 6:00 PM PDT . . . check out the radio station list to see where you can hear the broadcast in your local area. You can also listen here streaming on metallica.com and missionmetallica.com. |

| I don't think a band has recovered from releasing a shitty album (St. Anger) quite as much as Metallica has done with Death Magnet. Great album, and it's good to hear James sing like he used to. Lars still blows though.

+1 Internets | I may or may not have heard the album a few hours ago... After listening to it a few times, I think it's pretty decent. No, it isn't something I'll be listening to continuously for the next few weeks and I don't think any of the riffs or solos will be stuck in my head (I'm still jiving on Machine Head's album from last year thanks to that amazing guitar work). But overall I enjoyed it and I'm glad Metallica took some time and effort to make some really good songs. Though the above is subject to change, I'm sure we all have gone through albums that you listen to a few times, put away and come back to later and can't stop listening to. Machine Head's The Blackening would be a good example for myself (could you tell?). The opening track That Was Just Your Life starts off slow and steady and progresses onward to some heavy material (5:30-6:30 is great, I found myself looking at my Winamp player while healing a group to make sure it was still the first track). I really liked Suicide and Redemption a lot, which is a song that clocks in at 9 minutes and 57 seconds and is the album's instrumental. All Nightmare Long is pretty sweet as others mentioned above. The album version of Cyanide is pretty good too, I believe only a live version has been available for the last few weeks. I'd like to get in to a few more details but I'm pretty beat, and I don't wanna throw my opinions everywhere at this time of the night. My main complaint, as odd as it may be is the drumming in The Day That Never Comes. It's... I don't even know how to describe it. I was hoping it was just the quality of the song on many sites when I heard it initially, but after seeing the video on Metallica.com and listening to a .mp3 file, it's definitely the song it self. I also am "meh" about The Unforgiven III. I'd love to hear other's opinion on the album, but now it is time for sleep~

+1 Internets | Downloaded the torrent because i couldn't wait till the album comes out. After hearing it i am even more excited to pick up the album. I pre ordered it weeks ago and not regretting it. It's not an epic album, but it does make me want to say "welcome back guys" The album could use more double kick action and less snare plz. It's not too disturbing (like St. Anger) but the drums might be a bit more on the background. and WELCOME THE FUCK BACK GUITAR SOLO, WE MISSED YOU!!!! That was just your life is a great song to kick off an album with and leaves you wanting more, and guess what you get more and better. End of the line feels like 2 songs stapled together. At one point it starts to drag a bit and then stops, and a slow part starts wich sounds like a whole new song. Broken beat and scarred, great intro, Hetfield does a great job singing The day that never comes has a "one" ish feel to it. slow start, and then it rips through your speakers. good song, not my favourite on the album, since the fast section is sort of all over the place riff wise. All nightmare long is fucking awesome and just SCREAMS "play me live!" Cyanide, it took me a few times listening to enjoy it. Unforgiven 3, this is by far my favourite unforgiven version. The Judas kiss, very good song, awesome vocals Suicide and redemption, I liked the song all around but its no call of ctulhu or orion, and feels like a 60 minute jam session crammed up into 10 minutes. My apocalypse is very enjoyable. Made me think of Anthrax a little bit, dunno why. All in all, i cannot wait to hear them play some songs live. |

+43 Internets | lol, there's so little difference between Edmonton and Calgary it really exposes people making such claims to be ignorant idiots. They're virtually the exact same city, for fuck's sake. |

One is the armpit of Canada the other is the asshole of Canada, which is which is up for debate. I am sure you guys tromp on Vancouver all the time, but when either city is referred to on local radio it is only done so via the above nomenclature ... I really can't wait for the CD the quality of the rip we are all getting is pretty piss poor, though I hear there is a 320 somewhere. After many more subsequent listens I am getting annoyed by the compressed sound of the album, obviously largely due to the rip, but I imagine it'll sound a little compressed even on CD thanks to it's length. How does one obtain flac versions of Songs anyway? I would love to have a flac of this album when it's released | |

| Flaccid Steel | The 320kbps is not really 320kbps. The version being leaked is only 128kbps. FLAC is just another lossless file type but it's lossless so it takes up less data. You can just get the CD and rip it yourself or you can download it from what or waffle. You can try piratebay/isohunt too. BTW, V0 or 320cbr is as good as lossless. It's difficult to differentiate between high quality mp3 and lossless.

+8 Internets | Can't stand, "What don't kill ya make ya more strong." The songs, at times, feel like they wander around a bit too much, and maybe are a little longer than they should be. Overall, I'd say it's good but not great, but I'm willing to give it more of a listen. |
