| Portishead - Third For those that weren't aware they have a album of completely new material coming out April 15th. Another thing to note is...The album which is due out a month and a half from now.....Has leaked. The transcode isn't the greatest from what i hear but if you are fan... I can't see why you wouldn't give it a listen regardless.... btw i was going to plug this information into another thread but couldn't see anything on the front page worth bumping that would get enough views... |

+3 Internets | Love Portishead, very underrated group, I still listen to lots of Massive Attack, Tricky, Portishead, anything big beat / bristol sound. I have so much of that in my collection from working in record stores in the early to mid 90's. Can't wait for high quality mp3 or the cd for that matter. They kicked more than enough ass back in the day to earn my ten bucks.

+29 Internets | Hearing the name Portishead instantly invokes a Pavlovian response in me: suddenly I'm overwhelmed by the smell of patchouli oil. I'm sure they're a great band, but my emo girlfriend in highschool has assuredly ruined them for all time for me. |

| First time I heard them, was actually.....Mr. Bungle. Patton loves to do covers of Portishead. I checked them out, and sadly only liked a few of their songs. But what I did like, I *really* liked. For example, Glory Box is the absolute shit |

| That is a fair point, none the less in spirit it feels like portishead. What i was trying to say is for a band that hasn't put out a album in 10 years, their ability to create a quality tunes hasn't fallen off. Somehow, the band has such a timeless sound that the quality of their musicianship isn't bound to 1998. |

| I'm a "Machine Gun" fan too, especially when heard right after "Deep Water" Aside from the above, I think "We Carry On" does it in for me, that and "The Rip" Let's just go with "We Carry On", "Deep Water" & "Machine Gun". That middle chunk of the album ![]() But at this point, my favorite song will likely change 6 more times before coming to a conclusion. Third is so terrific.
