| In case you missed it! (Jan-Feb '08) I have kind of had the idea for this thread bouncing around my head for a while and couldn't decide between 2 or 3 month blocks. The topic is this: for the past 2 months what albums have you obtained that are noteworthy. Genre doesn't matter in the least just throw out whatever has been resonating in your speakers. Heres my shortlist, followed by a sampling of the goods....In case you missed it! Akrobatik - Absolute Value Northeastern Hip-Hop on the top tier. Mr.Lif's partner in "The Perceptionists" Clutchy Hopkins - Walking Backward Very Similar to DJ Shadow Erykah Badu - New Amerykah Part One 4th World War I know you would categorize this artist into r&b, but this album is amazingly crafted beat wise and feels like a modern interpretation of a 70's funk album. I was suprised by how much i am enjoying this album. Just don't bring it up in a crowd of people in RL if we ever meet. Ill Insanity - Ground Zero Turantable crew comprised of 3 guys. 2 of which are from the well know "X-ecutioners" Rob Swift and Total Eclipse M.I.A. - Paper Planes: Homeland Security Remixes Ever since the pineapple express trailer was released I can't seem to get enough of this song Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts 1-4 do i really need a comment here to sell this album to you? UNKLE - More Stories If you dug last year's "War Stories" this is remixes from that album Why? - Alopecia ( Thanks Ham! ) The Presidents Of The United States Of America - These Are The Good Times People I came across this ablum randomly and have been mentally assaulted by flashbacks of that song "peaches" from their first album which was released a decade ago. The album is garbage but if you have bandwidth to burn it's worth a download. SeeqPod - Playable Search I couldn't find a few of the recently released albums of a few artists so you got what i could get Don't feel a need to produce as play list just throw up what you think people should give a listen to.I'd hope we could make this a reoccurring topic if this "pleases and sparkles" the posters of the Music House. |

| NIN - Ghosts I-IV obviously Beach House - Devotion Slow and soft but in a chill way. Just saw them live actually. The vocals were weaker in person but I think it was a crappy venue. Check out the song I'm about to link for sure. Altas Sound - Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel ... You could compare it to a poor man's Panda Bear. It borrows from Animal Collective (love those guys). I'm enjoying it a lot. Cadence Weapon - Afterparty Babies Awesome clever rapper that sounds more like a music nerd than a thug. clever lines to really unique beats. SeeqPod - Playable Search

+7 Internets | I didn't have anything for a while, because I hadn't listened to any recent music, but then I got my hands on The Flashbulb - Soundtrack to a Vacant Life, which was released late this January. It's a really delightful album of 2-3 minute songs, many on the quiet side, often with Benn playing jazz guitar or piano melodies. There are also some very Flashbulby kind of tracks with a ton of drums and some synth melodies here and there, but the whole album is a real treat for me because I couldn't stand his last couple breakcore-leaning releases. I can't seem to find it available for streaming anywhere online (nothing on YT, Seeqpod, and no tracks available on Last.fm) but I'm sure you can torrent it easily if you're interested, and get it, if you're even a little interested in a new Flashbulb album. |

+2 Internets | This is tough, January seems so long ago. I have been listening to a mix of new stuff and continuing my journey into older music -- here's the best of what I've listened to. Spiritualized - Ladies & Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space -- saw they would be at Coachella, got this album, changed my life. Now I'm exploring his first bands work -- Spacemen 3 Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense -- well, really just live Talking Heads in general. i've been bouncing in my car screaming Byrne's lyrics ever since I witnessed Stop Making Sense, fucking amazing. Atlas Sound - Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel -- took a few listens, but I love it. "On Guard", "Ready, Set, Glow" & the last two tracks are my highlights. Iggy Pop - Lust for Life & The Idiot -- finally moving from The Stooges to his solo work and being just as entertained. Iggy is fastly becoming my music God. -Most of January for me was focused on Les Savy Fav since I saw them live that month. So everything by them ![]() And of course the assortment of new shit pitchfork's been talken about and other bands I'm excited about seeing live in the future: Black Mountain El Guincho Vampire Weekend Holy Fuck

+20 Internets | saw "why?" in concert tonight, damn opening bands didn't finish until midnight and I have to be up at 5 (sup all nighter forced on me). However, it was worth it, they played a song by request that wasn't on the set list, Yoni talked to the crowd a ton, they sounded awesome and a few songs sounded a lot better live than the LP versions |

| Was the Why? show with Xiu Xiu ham? They're playing here together next week and I really don't know how Xiu Xiu live would be, other than strange and awkward. I guess only one way to find out. Haha Cadence Weapon looks more like a nerd than a thug too. There are a few videos with him playing with Final Fantasy and Destroyer, which is how I heard of him. Them together are cool but I don't really care much for Cadence. As far as the thread goes, Man Man's Rabbit Habits is out. And they're on tour. Happy days. | brrrl | Xiu Xiu live is incredible! I've seen him three times, and he really shines in small intimate (dirty?) venues. Yep.

+20 Internets | I'm a huge Anthony Gonzales fanboy, so I love it. He sings on almost every track though which is unusual, but after Digital Shades Vol. 1 was totally ambient it's a nice follow up for sure |
