RIP Jeff Healey

Lot of musicians die from O.D's and other less than tragic ways, Jeff died of Cancer...

For those that are unfamiliar with him,or have forgotten him. He is a blind musician ,his blindness caused by Cancer at the age of one, playing guitar on is lap, he was mostly into blues and has played with basically all the great blues players still living in the last 30 years and some that no longer are including SRV.

Great guitar player , I think Angel Eyes was probably his greatest hit but I chose this video cause it's a great song, and a decent cover but mostly it shows off his ability and personality as a blind guy, it's cool when he stands up and still plays the guitar upside down in it, pretty gifted guy ...Plus it's a little tribute to his role in the classic Patrick Swazye movie, Roadhouse.

Has a new Album coming out this year as well, leaves behind a wife and a couple kids.

I just now heard about this, on Weekend Edition.

I'm actually sittin here with tears in my eyes. He's been a favorite of mine for years. I knew he had a new album coming out, his first rock/blues record in 8 years or so, next month (the 22nd), and had been lookin forward to it.

Goddamn. His is such a sad story. Hit up his Wiki page and check some of the links.

He was never known all that well here in the States, but his jazz playing and his blues guitar are well-known world wide.

The world got a little darker.

Just FYI

I just picked up his new CD, Mess of Blues, at the Borders here in West Palm Beach. Apparently, his young death prompted them to push up the release.

Fucking rockin too...I haven't gotten all the way through it yet, but it is balls to the wall blues. Much like See the Light, the first time i heard that CD I thought it was SRV. 9.9/10 so far.

EDITed to add: I will say though, this is more a jazz/blues CD than a guitar rock/blues album. Not rock like you might expect...much lighter sound.
