| Do you want on ear, around here, in ear canal, or buds? The price/performance brand changes in nearly each case. In any case, All Headphones - HeadRoom - Right Between Your Ears pick your style of headphone, ignore the ones over $100, and pick the best rated one under that. There probably isn't a better site for headphones.

| I have some Sennheiser HD485's for computer use and they are comfy as hell and sound great. Have NEVER had any pains associated with wearing them for extended sessions. And they run well under $100. Newegg has them for like $68. Also have some Sennheiser CX300s(?) that are IEMs which are really nice for mp3/mobile use and also well under $100. +1 Internets | I ordered the D-jays off of headroom last year. They sound wonderful. They fit really snug in my ears too, and they come with a bunch of different size caps. The only thing I regret is that I didn't order them in black. ![]() Oh and for a pair under 20 bucks that sounds almost as good: Amazon.com: JBuds Hi-Fi Noise-Reducing Ear Buds (Black): Electronics

| I have the Bose earbud style headphones and the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro over ear style headphones. They both cost just under $100 and the Sennheiser sounds is much better. I don't have alot of good headphone experience but I can't say enough good things about the HD 280's. With them on I pick up sounds in music that never comes out in my car or in the Bose speakers I have hooked up to my receiver/pc. I use headphones with my home pc(ran into a Kenwood receiver from the motherboard with no sound card), work laptop(Thinkpad), and a nano while flying. |

+8 Internets | I got the Sennheiser HD555 for sub-$100 a few months back. Amazon has them for $99.99 right now with free ship They've been spectacular, but they are open-ear so you can hear some noise from outside, don't know if you want that or not. It's nice for me since I wear them at work while I code and can still hear when someone is trying to get my attention, but the outside noise is still low enough not to be distracting. They're really comfortable and I like the sound quality a lot, though I've never had other nice headphones to compare against. In summary, I'd say the HD555 is ridiculously good value for the quality. If you don't mind a little sound leakable, get them, if not I'd go for the HD280 since they are closed-ear. |

+2 Internets | If you want something for your ipod. Sennheiser PX100's have served me very very well. If you want a closed-cup design the PX-200's work as well and are fairly comfortable even when wearing glasses. Got my px100's for ~$40 off amazon with free shipping, and have never regretted them. Edit: The warranty service from sennheiser is amazingly strong as well. While I was protecting my stuff during camping out for Wimbledon this summer I ended up sleeping on my headphones at a wierd angle and the jack got frayed due to stress. Sent in a warranty request, and I shipped them my headphones in their case without any prove of purchase or receipts other than my word, and they gave me a brand new pair within a week. It saved my ass because I lost the original packaging & receipts from awhile back, but they didn't care at all. Last edited by Kheldin : 01-05-2008 at 12:20 PM. |

+1 Internets | Grado SR-80's. They're not the most comfortable pair of headphones ever, but the sound is amazing.

| Not real sure on the direction or style you are looking for, but when I used to spin hard trance music I used MDR 700 sony's, the bass is very crisp on these.

| I prefer Skullcandy buds, they have high quality sound, comfortable and depending on where you get them depends their price. FYE here has them ranging from 10$ - 40$. I think they're great. ![]()

| I would grab the hd280s as I like the senn sound signature. The closed back will keep you from annoying people and it'll stop people from annoying you when your listening to music. I'm a huge senn fan so I'm a little biased. The grado sr-80 have many fans as well. I would lurk around head-fi a bit and figure it out. Would probably help to know what type of music you plan to listen to as well. |
