| RIAA attacks personal copy of CD to computer RIAA... "In legal documents in its federal case against Jeffrey Howell, a Scottsdale, Ariz., man who kept a collection of about 2,000 music recordings on his personal computer, the industry maintains that it is illegal for someone who has legally purchased a CD to transfer that music into his computer." and from sony records... Sony BMG's chief of litigation, Jennifer Pariser, testified that "when an individual makes a copy of a song for himself, I suppose we can say he stole a song." Copying a song you bought is "a nice way of saying 'steals just one copy,' " Heres the article in WAPO washingtonpost.com Fucking insanity or what? theyre gonna check my Ipod to see if ive copied my own fucking CD collection to the fucking thing? Someone needs to line up the RIAA and their big record label owning masters and shoot them in the faces in front of their fucking children. They're a disgrace to the human race. |

| sarcasm? the democratic party (especially Hillary) is owned by hollywood the same way republicans are owned by guns, oil, and tobacco. ;p the only person running for president that would dependably smack these bitches down would be Ron Paul, and he dosent stand a snowballs chance in hell of winning an election. Hell, even if he did win, congress wouldnt let him do jack shit. our only hope is that the judges on these cases arent total cunts. pretty slim fucking hope imo |

| BUBBLES THE MONKEY!!! | Better fucking hope so. This could be the beginning of the end for the RIAA and the music industry in general. Attacking people who actually steal is one thing, but now they're attack legal owners of music and that won't sit well with the general public. Who is fucking funding these idiots? |

| The RIAA claims that it does not constitute fair use because CDs aren't especially vulnerable to damage and replacements are readily available at your local stores. It doesn't seem like a great fight to pick but you never know. edit - Not to restart a previous thread's worth of arguments but it isn't stealing damn it. If I rip a CD I bought onto my computer I haven't stolen a single fucking thing. It is a bullshit labeling game.

| My cousin used to work for those douche bags and he'd yak on and on about protecting musicians and the rest of us would just stare blankly at him and then say the same thing everyone else in the free world does, "You do realize that although you might win a few battles, you are going to lose this war...don't you?" Now he's turn-coated and represents actual bands in Nashville instead of the publishers and we all get along much better now.

| There just aren't words to describe how much fail is going into the Record Industries collapse and its retarded fucking approach to dealing with technological innovations. You eventually have to stop fucking the customer. There is an entirely new model for distribution within the industry and it cannot truly be capitalized on until these stupid fuckers learn that fucking with the law is not going to make people buy your horse shit. Isn't that a basic tenet of capitalism? Give the customer what they want? |

+9 Internets | I am not sure how it goes in the US, but around here there is a tax on all blank media that is distributed to the right owners of recorded products to compensate the loss coming from fair use. Funny part is that downloading is accepted as part of fair use.

| The entertainment industry views it's consumers as goatse. Bent over, ass up, cheeks spread. Reality is vastly different, though not quite as disturbing. |
