| Yeah, Soulja Boy being on that list pretty much invalidates Rolling Stone's authority on music.

| Other than being absolutely terrible lyrically and vocally, the band doesn't really have much going for it. Cut out the lead singer entirely and it'd be passable. But deserving of being on a top 100 of anything list? Not really. edit- to clarify, I'm not knocking that type of band, just specifically that band. They do nothing new and sound like they are simply trying to capitalize on the "I'm more Indie than you!" crowd of kids who listen to terrible music just to say they heard it first. Rolling Stone's list seriously looks like they wandered into a starbucks, found a group of trying-hard-to-be-hip kids playing on laptops and asked them what their myspace handle was to check out what music they had in their profile. Since that list has like 3 total genres represented on it, it's laughable at best. Top 10 songs of 2007? Sure, you could almost cherry pick that list, but 100 is ridiculous.

+20 Internets | Yeah I don't like the new arcade fire album that much but you're pretty much just trying to get a rise out of people, so shut up Anyway I was easily able to choose my top 100 songs of the year and had problems omitting so many and tried to use a lot of varying bands without using 3-4 songs off great albums like Strawberry Jam, Person Pitch, In Rainbows, etc. Don't know why so many people in this thread think 100 per year is so ??? - just because you don't listen to that many albums in a year doesn't mean there aren't 100 good songs each year (this one isn't directed at you Rezz since your gripe seems to be with genre). And I pretty much listen to no country, pop, rap or metal. I imagine the list would be nearly impossible to compile if I enjoyed that type of music Last edited by Ham n Cheese : 01-07-2008 at 11:11 AM. |

Top 100 songs of Rap/Indi/Pop-rock of 2007 should have been the title of the article. They threw in a couple random songs to mix it up, but for the most part it's like they took a poll at MTV.com and compared it with pitchfork and then made a hybrid. How Radiohead isn't higher is beyond me, even given their own super biased criteria for what makes a top song.
