Recommend old school records (vinyl) to sample

Looking to start sampling off vinyl but the problem is I don't know much about what albums to get.

I'm looking to do some hip-hop beats (mostly) but also some ambient/electronic music with these samples so I was thinking along the lines of some old soul and violin/piano jams and stuff like that. Can anyone help me think of some stuff that might sound good?

thanks

edit; i also realize that, i mean, whatever i want to sound like i'm gonna have to eventually determine by just sampling a bunch of different shit and picking my favorites/creating my style. just looking for some opinions on some older tunes because i don't know a lot about older bands.

Motown Records - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
If you happen to be digging through some old records, there is usually gold in anything Motown pressed in between the 1960 to mid 1970s.

or you could go even more cliche with your samples and sample "the funky drummer" by James Brown or go with anything off of Public Enemy's fear of a black planet..

Eric B. and Rakim's album Paid in Full. Look it up and listen to it and you'll notice that most rap/hip-hop artists in the 90s ripped at least one of their beats off.

This site is a sampling goldmine: UbuWeb - 365 Days Project

Basically it's this guy who buys old/wierd vinyl and uploads it to mp3's. It's pretty neat. I got a few clips last time about a lady (who is naked on the cover of the album) who talks to your plants while your away--because evidentally they need love too.

Edit: Ends up there's a couple... I'm not sure which I got my stuff from-- WFMU's Beware of the Blog: 365 Days Project
