Always got hung up on Diablo, thought it was better game than the sequel - and the music was awesome.

Diablo 1 had much better atmosphere all around than Diablo 2.

Sounds decent, but only because of nostalgia. I have Diablo 2 original soundtrack as well as the sequel and I think they are more fleshed out overall. Especially for LoD. All the music is dope regardless though.

Diablo 1 was definitely a much darker themed game by far... just think of the Butcher and his fatass in his room as well as all the other crazy mofos you fight (Lazerus, Leoric, etc.). Diablo 2 was more kiddy/cartoony....

Plus, you could spam firewalls and apocalypse in town and kill unsuspecting people logging in.... and potions used for duping owned too.

I always liked D1 more too. Way more creepy and unsettling. And fuck sewers. And fuck jungles.

I couldn't get into Diablo (I tried for a bit), but the lack of running killed me. If they remade it with the D2 controls, I'd so play it through.

thanks for this link. Been playing that ES mod for D2, and the only time I hear any part of "town" in D2 is right after you rescue Cain from Tristram. It only lasts a second and those few chords always reminds me to try to find the mp3 from Diablo1. But by the time I get back to town and stuff, I'd forget.

Diablo II had the whole linear Act story line. Whereas Diablo 1 was just a straight shot down all the way into Hell. I think the fact that you were walking the whole time made it ever scarier & creepier.

But I remember one of the best parts of D2 was that you could hold down Alt and it would highlight all the items on the ground. I remember when my first epic ring dropped in Diablo 1. I heard it drop but had to go up the hallway where it dropped and run my cursor back and forth over the ground until i found it. Nostalgia indeed.
